tkr 34-58 + 7

I feel that this section of the story really shows a lot of guilt. Hassan really sees that Amir and him are bound because they had both fed from the same breast. Amir wins the kite at the end of the tournament, and Hassan being the best kite runner in town claims the last fallen kite for him. Shortly after, Hassan is approached by Assef and his group of friends. Hassan is raped. Amir even hears this going on. The fear of stepping up and defending Hassan paralyzes Amir. He pretends nothing happens. This shows the more dominance kind of affect that people have over each other. Its depriving them of their pride. Hassan was brought into the worst winter of his life from that point on.

tkr 1-34

This chapter briefly shows the respect for family basically. Amir demonstrates a brotherly relationship with Hassan while he is also aware than Hassan is nothing more than a servant to his family. Hassan never blamed Amir when they each had gotten into trouble for catching the suns reflection into the neighbor's eyes. Baba was quite the role model for Amir. he had tried nearly everything to get his attention. He started demonstrating an interest in soccer.

Chapt 25-end

I thought the ending was nice. When they fly the kites in the park it feels like it's Amir and Hassan. The book was good.

Chapt 23-24

Amir made the right choice by saving sohrab and taking him to live with him in the us.

Chapt 22

I think Amir deserves to feel a little pain after what he had done to Hassan.

Chapt 19-21

Amir is finally realizing all the bad he has done. He is actually trying to make things right.

Chapt 16-18

I think it's messed up that baba didn't tell Amir about his brother.

Chapt 13-15

I feel as if Amir thinks about Hassan throughout everything. Even at his wedding he connected it to Hassan. The wedding scene was cute. It was sad to see baba pass away but atleast his funeral showed he was a good man

Chapt 11-12

I think Amir should have told Sonya about Hassan. Amir and babas relationship is developing well.

Chapt 9-10

I was surprised that Amir set up Hassan. I honestly don't think Hassan deserved it after what he's already been through.

Chapt 8

Amir and Hassan begin to grow further apart. Amir is rude to him.

1-34

It's wierd that everyone has their own servants. Amir has a lot of power over Hassan.

Chapter 25-end TKR

Overall the ending to this book was too perfect for me. They go to a park and Kite run, as if its Hassan and Amir again? And then it ends with for a thousand times over, and to me it was to much like a movie which would never happen, maybe i don't like stories that end like that haha. I enjoyed this book mostly because of the culture, i enjoyed reading about the conflicts of the Taliban, the Russians and the Natives, but i'd rather the author left some interpretation at the end. Scale of 1-10? 7.5 :)

Chapter 23-24

Okay seriously?! Talk about set up Amir gets a scar directly down the middle of his lip, just like a cleft lip! This just seemed to corny to me, and so far everything just seems so put together and laid out for me, i want to interpret things sometime! Sohrab trying to kill himself is something i was confused about. I get that he didnt want to live without his parents, but why did the author include it? I wouldnt have missed anything had he excluded it like the movie!

Chapter 22 TKR

ITS FREAKING ASSEF! Honestly i cant say i'm suprised he joined the Taliban, what is annoying to me is how the author set it up. Its so coincidental how he take Sohrab from the orphanage and how Amir finds him. It all seemed too setup and not really natural. Nevertheless Amir saves Sohrab, obviously with his help because he cant beat anyone up that coward! I wish this was more satisfying than it was though, just seems to setup lol.

Chapter 19-21 TKR

So now Amir is headed to save Hassan's son. Its funny because when i had read earlier chapters i would have thought you were lying about him actually going. But then again he also feels like he has to do this now. He needs to break even from the terrible things he did when he was younger. The scene where they stone the woman in the soccer field is also really brutal. Honestly i was surprised they included  it but i guess it was necessary to really see what was going on in Afghanistan and the magnitude of power the Taliban had.

Chapter 16-18 TKR

Hassan is dead. what in the tarnation is going on! This really gave a look into the cultural side of the book. I knew the Taliban were bad but this shows the hate and crime they have. It sucks to see Amir have to deal with them moving into his old house and taking his best friend. I guess Karma is biting him in the butt! But now he has a way to redeem himself, to save Hassans son. Hopefully he wont wimp out this time, but I can pretty much predict him saving the son. It wouldnt be a happy ending if he didnt.

Chapter 13 - 15 TKR

I find it ironic that Amir and Soraya can't have a baby. It almost seems like one of the punishments for Amir betraying Hassan. There's no way the author didn't intentionally make that happen. I was suprised when Amir agrees to go to Pakistan for Rahim Khan. I realize that he was a mentor for him when he was young but from Amirs past, he is not known to be a risk taker or to be proud of standing up for something. Maybe he's finally growing up and wants to find redemption for what he did to Hassan?

Chapter 11 and 12 TKR

These two chapters bring a new time period into play, and show when Amir and Baba move to America. Their relationship definitely seems to be a lot stronger, which is not what i predicted. I had thought they would always stay the same, if not worse. Amir and Baba almost seem like close friends, with a mutual respect for eachother. Chapter 12 also shows Amir speaking to Soraya which shows how much of a coward he is for waiting so long. oh yeah and Baba is dying to cancer, which is going to leave Amir with noone to have for guidance. YAY :\

Chapter 9 and 10 TKR

YOURE JOSHING ME RIGHT NOW, when i read this part i was freaking out. Not only does Amir blackmail Hassan and say that he stole his money he lets them leave! It frustrates me that Amir is doing this to himself. I want to believe he has a good heart and can own up for himself but its harder and harder to see the good in Amir. Hassan and Ali don't deserve this and this will probably affect Amir and Babas relationship down the line!

Chapter 8 TKR

I think its pretty bogus what Amir does to Hassan after the rape. I think his worst move was treating it like nothing happens and he decides that to ignore everything. He could have owned up to it and missed alot of hassle. Also in this chapter Amir throws pomegranates at Hassan to test his loyalty, and i think this says alot about who Hassan is, and how loyal he is. It also says alot about Hazaras and the servant-master relationships in this culture.

TKR Chap 25-End

I liked how this book ended. I thought the author picked a good way to end but I wish we can figure out what happens with Sohrab.

TKR Chap 23-24

After reading this I'm wondering if Sohrab is dead? Amir finds I'm in the tub bleeding. I would assume he's dead or atleast dieing.

TKR 22

In thia scene we see the fight between Sohrab and Assef. The ethnic cleansing thing is very obscure and I don't really understand the concept.

TKR Chapter 19-21-

These chapters were pretty brutal and actually hard to read. The stoning was a very surprising and a very dark point for the book.
