Parts 7 unwind

Its crazy how Conner gets rolands arm u relay like the end of the book and how it got so detailed about tgings. I also like how they beat the system and the world is changing.

Unwind part 7

Im glad that Connor is the new Admiral.. He is the right fit for it since the entire journey was him helping others not become unwound. I think its kind of ironic that Connor now has Rolands arm.

Unwind part 6

I cant believe that they were finally caught! But im also shocked that Lev blew the chop shop up. It showed that there is still some of the old Lev in him and since connor saved him and now he saved connor.

Unwind part 5

I really like Admirals rules..but Connor seems to have his guard up.. All the characters have changed completely and its basically a turning point

Unwind part 4

Lev has completely changes personalities he went from a boy following the rules to a boy who breaks them. I also felt bad that Connor had to be in the same crate as Roland on the way to the graveyard.

unwind part 7

The book was amazing it was a page turrner and it may have been a bad ending but the book was a great reading to the end.

unwind part 6

I was suprised that Conner walked him self to the chop-shop he was don running and he was going to get unwind on his terms. I kew that Lev and his pals were going to blow up the compound just not that spectaulerly.

unwind part 5

I found it interesting that the Adermail is able to conterol all of these runawy unwinds without viliance.

unwind 4

When Conner is in the crate getting transported to the graveyard, the kids he is with discuss what happens when kids get unwound and then discuss morality. Whail when they get to the grave yard and when they get to the graveyard they are told that you cant make your own rules annymore. Whail Conner and Risha are on there way to the graveyard Lev changes to help his new friend Cy-fy.

unwind part 3

In the begining of the book you begin to herar about an orginization that helps runnay winwinds and now you begin to see it and the kids begin to feel there is a chanse for hope.

unwind post 2

I was suprised that lev would betery the only two people that see that he has an opertunity to have a life and not get unwound

Unwind Part 7

Overall it was a boring ending to a boring book. The last few pages kind of dragged on. It was really obvious that the whole time the Admiral was 'training' Connor to take his place because he knew that he wouldn't be able to live forever. He knew that Connor took authority over the others and that they all listened/respected him. Lastly, I feel like Connor's injuries defeat the whole purpose of this book because he got a part from an unwind when he was trying to rebel towards society and the government to get rid of unwinding. It was predictable that he got his arm from Roland. Connor getting part of Roland gives a type of closure to their differences and how they're both able to move on, but in different ways.

Unwind part 7

I was not expecting Lev, Risa, and conner to all survive. I thought it was interesting that Conner recieved Rolands arm which shows how quickly unwound parts go into use. I enjoyed the ending of the book

Part 6

I was proud of Connor for walking in to the unwind prepared and ready. I didn't expect them to blow up the chop shop but that part was cool. I wonder if all the unwinds will revolt against it.

Part 6/7

Wow... The ending is a big surprise, I was not expecting that a single bit. The unwinding process is pretty weird how the unwinds awake and the doctors are slowley disassembling Roland it's was cool, it had me attached to the book

Unwind Part 6

I was completely unsatisfied with the unwinding chapter. I feel as if the author was bluffing the entire time about how scary and cruel the procedure was. It was a major let down because the way it was written didn't leave that big of an impact. Maybe in theory the unwinding process is difficult to digest, but the way it was explained wasn't really heartbreaking. I understand in a way how the doctors talking about meaningless things expressed how they didn't really care about the unwind, but it didn't make me feel sorry for Roland. I was expecting way more going into this chapter and it definitely could have been written better.

Unwind part 6

I was disappointed that Connor and Risa got caught. I wasn't to surprised that Roland is the one that turned on them. The unwinding process is terrifying due to the fact that they are awake the entire time. I'm curious on what's going to happen next.

Part 6

I think its crazy how they got brought to the camp happy jack after all the running and lev is already there. Risa ends up playing the piano Roland is unwound

Unwind pg 249-300

I know this book isn't about organs and all that, but I can't help but feel the unwinding chapter was a let down. It was built up this entire time, and yet the author just seemed throw out random anatomy vocab expecting that to have an impact on readers. Unfortunately, I think the book is a bit pretentious.

part 7

Props to Connor for walking to his unwinding with head held high.

Oh my God.. I knew they were going to blow up the Chop Shop but wow. And now all the kids are revolting. I wonder if they'll escape.

Connor did NOT get Roland's arm... you're kidding.

Risa is a genius..

Lev can help stop unwinding, his journey from beginning to end went "bit by bit" but now things are happening.

I knew Connor would go back and lead all the Unwinds.. He's applying the idea of clappers in a smart way and that admirable.

The party for Humphrey, coolest thing ever.

part 6

What good are doctors if they don't have any formal training? Do they graft new skin on kids with a deep cut? Do they not even know how to stitch up a patient? They can't even be considered doctor's anymore. They're like assembly line workers; putting pieces together to make a whole. (255)

I can't believe Roland was stupid enough to give up Connor and Risa, obviously he wasn't going to get released too. Also, I never would have imagined that they knew about the Admiral. They use the Admiral as a source of ease. Theyre too lazy to chase unwinds so they allow them to get rounded up.

I think "Harvest Camp" is a really bad name to use in order to sugar coat unwinding facility. The decor of this place is hilarious. As if colors are really going to relax these kids.

Lev's a clapper?

The Unwinding is terrible. Roland's memories that come back to him make it even worse. And the casual conversation and jokes made over his dismembered head is disgusting. I don't believe that Roland still has consciousness. I don't know if its because his parts are all separated and that he wont be right until they have a body again but he doesn't know his name or anything. I can't even say he knows whats going on around him. Maybe he can "see" it but there's no perception, no thinking. I don't think he's "alive" in any sense of the word.

Lev's going to save Connor?

part 5

The Admiral opens up alot to Connor in this part. I think everything he said and showed to him was really important. Teaching him about the war and his life made it possible for Connor to trust him. Had he not broken down and showed his beliefs and his emotions he wouldn't have had Connor as a spy.

I though Roland and Connor's conversation was really interesting as well. They call the work-calls slavery. Hayden says "that unwinding makes slavery look good. it's always the lesser of two evils." and Connor responds with "I don't see why there has to be any evils at all." (pg 206) Will there ever a way to get rid of all evil?

Unwind Part 5

I felt like a lot happened in this part. Each of the characters' personalities have changed from the time they all met and the time they arrived at the Graveyard. I feel like Lev has changed the most out of the three. He's more independent and really only relies on himself rather than turning to religion for the answers. He has more of an attitude towards Risa, especially. I'm not sure exactly what he's trying to prove to everyone, but he definitely has changed. What caught my attention the most was when they had the meeting at the Graveyard for the job calling and Lev offered to go away to do work. It seemed weird to me that he was only there for a few weeks and he already wanted to leave. Overall, each character is becoming more and more suspicious and anyone at this point can turn out to be evil.

Part 5

I'm happy Risa and Connor finally found they're place. It got so intense with all that happened at the Graveyard. The rioting at the end also through me for a loop. It is really starting to get intense!

Unwind part 5

Things in the graveyard are steadily getting more intense. Connor's conflict with Roland becomes total chaos in the graveyard. I'm very curious to see how this situation will be handled and what comes next for the graveyard.

part 7

In this part it shows that lev is still a sensitive guy. He saved the people that had kidnapped him in the beginning. I find it weird that Connor had Roland's arm. it's ironic that Connor has his arm because they hated each other in the beginning.

Part 5

I found that this part was pretty cool. The admiral was sorta like smuggling the unwinds. He also runs the graveyard and makes the unwinds work.

Part 5

This book is getting intense when 5 kids die and Conner and the general are working together because they think Roland did it and Roland keeps telling lies that people are going to get unwind at this place and lev returns Conner is upset and happy

part 6

I think it's cruel to leave them in a harvest camp until their unwind happens. instead of waiting I would want it to just be over with. I wouldn't wanna wait for my death.

Unwind pg 197-249

As the story is getting more intense, I'm enjoying it much more. Everyone is suspicious of each other and chaos is spreading throughout the graveyard. Right now I don't even know what character to trust. It's cool how the author relates the structure of the chapters to the situations at hand. For example, right now the chapters are super short and therefore creating suspense.

Unwind Part 4

This part was really boring to me. As the story goes on, I begin to hate the chapters separated by character even more. Lev's side of the story is boring and I don't pay as much attention to it as I do towards Connor and Risa's side. During the part when they were on the crates inside the airplane, I liked how Connor and the other guys were talking about where they wanted their body parts to go if they were going to end up being unwound. It showed a creative side in having different body parts go to different people who will impact the world in a different way. I found that to be really interesting.

part 7

This was the only part in the book that I actually liked. Lev still has the same heart he had when we first met him, his personality has just changed. Also, he had saved the people that had kidnapped him in the beginning.
When the book told us that Roland had a tiger shark tattoo it seemed pointless at the time but now it makes sense. Conner now had Roland's arm which is strange because they hated each other and now they are "the same person"
Risa knows she will be safe now because they can't unwind the disabled. She gets to do what she loves, playing the piano, for run away unwinds like she used to be.
I like the ending because it's like the Admiral all over again but it's Conner.

part 6

I don't like this part at all. This is the part we finally find out what unwinding really is. I hate that they stay in the Harvest Camp for almost a month not knowing when their unwinding will be. If you knew were in a place knowing you were about to die, wouldn't you want it to be over with?

Unwind part 4

Lev truly is a true friend to CyFi. Back into the argument that Connor had in his crate i think that this relates to abortion today. A lot of people argue that its okay to abort at a certain month period because the baby doesn't have a soul. And it is still a debate just like in the crate.

Unwind Part 4

This part of the book was really intense and I feel that Lev isn't his true character anymore! Lev starts to steal things, and he is becoming not trustworthy. I felt really bad for all the unwinds that were getting packed in the crates and I got really nervous when Connor got packed in the crate with Roland cause I didn't know if anything bad was going to happen or not. I thought the part when they arrived in Joplin was really interesting how the kids brain was taking him back through everything and took them to the house. I can't wait to keep reading and see what happens to the unwinds.

Unwind part 3

I feel sorry for lev at this point. However he doesn't think clearly on his choices. I foun it interesting that lev was able to tag alon with another AWOL

Part 2 unwind comment

I agree with someone below who stated that Conner did the right thing but a stupid thing

Part 4

This part was so intense! Roland seriously has it out for Connor and Cifi being caught wasn't foreseen! This part made me question Lev's morality however I probably would have ran as well. Can't wait to keep reading!

Unwind part 4

When Conner is in the crate getting transported to the graveyard, the kids he is with discuss what happens when kids get unwound and then discuss morality. The admiral looks like an interesting character who can finally order these kids around and make them do what he wants. Lev is a completely different person from the beginning of the book. He goes from a willing tithe to a strong willed kid that will do whatever he wants.

part 5

At his point everyone is finding a place where they fit in or belong. Risa finds that she is great at First Aid and Conner finds that he is great at fixing things. This book tells us that we shouldn't judge people before we get to know them because Conner thought that the Admiral had teeth from an unwind but once he got to know him, he realized that they were really just fake.

part 4

Lev just isn't himself anymore. He is a whole other person and its not really for the better, more for the worse because now he is starting to steal. However he is still thinking of other people. For example, helping Cy-Fi get to Joplin. I am starting to understand the process of unwinding a little more like when Cy-Fi has the other kids thought and feelings in his head. It goes to show you that they don't actually die, they still live.

Unwind 157-194

I enjoyed the part where the boys in Connor's crate discuss what happens after a person is unwound. There is debate about souls, where they go, and if they even exist. The depth and creativity of this particular scene is really interesting. It shows that when we know death is near or a likely possibility, we desire to live on in any kind if way, either spiritually or by making an impact on the world. The scene prompts us to question the value of a life, why everyone isn't treated equally, and to face our fear of the unknown.

Unwind Part 7

After reading this book, I am disappointed with the ending I am happy that Connor and Risa are alive and they can't get unwound now, but Connor has Roland's arm on him and an unwinds eye and Risa is paralyzed for the waist down which is horrible. Also I'm confused about Emby and Harlan Dunfee. I'm realy happy that Hayden decided to continue the unwind refugee at the graveyard that was very smart and Connor is helping him which makes me even more excited. I'm so happy for the Admiral and Emby, but i am confused if they are at home or the graveyard? The reader realizes immensely that Connor's character has completely changed because of what he had gone through. I liked this book a lot it was a great book!

Unwind Part 6

This part was even more suspenseful, in this part of the novel the reader can acknowledge the interesting changes of each character. The process of being unwound was described throughly and it was so cruel. I couldn't imagine being in the same situation as Roland was. Risa was exceptional lucky considering she is a piano player because it makes me life longer. That was great for her because her life was bad back in the Sta-Ho. It was interesting to read the guards point of view. And I was confused on where Lev and his apprentices went but I see there purpose now. And it was a loud an clear message toward the harvest camp that's for sure! I can't wait to see what happens to Connor! And I'm nervous about Risa, I hope she is okay?

Part 5

This was the most exciting part of the book. The part where Cleaver and his gang killed the unwinds was a little confusing. I wondered what happened to Lev as he wandered the world by himself. However Lev managed to stay safe and alive long enough to make it to the graveyard. I think Connor and Risa are cute. When Connor kisses Risa you can tell that there is romance in it and true affection.

Unwind part 4

This part of the book made me question and think more than anything. What is the concept of life? It shows a hopeful side of these refugees on then when they are discussing what they hope happens to their body parts. Even if they expect the worst, they still hope for the best outcome of being given to someone who will rely on their new body parts and treat them well. Instead of being on the outside looking in, I can understand what It feels like when I think of the same question. "What happens to your soul when you get unwound?"

Unwind part 3

I literally have a burning passion of hate for Roland he is so stupid. Yet smart at the same time he definetly knows how to manipulate people.I also give Connor a lot of credit for holding his temper and not taking Rolands bait when he follows Risa to the bathroom. I feel like there is going to be a fight either way but its all a matter of who hits first. Im also wondering where the final safe house is i cant imagine if it is a different country orr....??

Unwind Part 2

Man i'm lovin this book! Connor really didn't have to take the baby haha but i see where he os coming from. His story about the baby that is passed along reflects his care for this stormed baby. I also like to think what would have happened if it was a different teacher instead of Hannah. It was such a good timing events. Now that they are separated from Lev i have a feeling how are they going to meet back up. I cant wait to see if they can make it out of this and escape.

Unwind part 2

I was surprised that Connor would decide to take the stroked baby. It was a trial of moral believes. Connor did the right thing, however it wasn't the smartest plan

Part 4

Part 4 is the ending of CyFi as he and Lev finally arrive at their destination to meet both his dads and Tyler's parents also. The part tht was Tyler didn't know he was Unwound and that kind of sheds some light on what happenes after you get unwound, like maybe you just don't feel or remember it happening. And Risa and Connor come to the graveyard were it seems like a nice safe place that they can stay for until they turn 18 or new identities, but I know something is going to change that pretty soon. There's  no way there just gonna chill there for like 2 years for Risa and 1 for Connor.

Part 4

I thought it was interesting how the dark box took away any walls that the kids put up. All their thoughts came out. I also thought the part where Connor uses his conscience and thinks about himself stretched out all around as an unwind was pretty cool. I keep trying to put myself in their position and I can't imagine what I would do or how I would feel.

Unwind Part 5

This part was definitely by far one of my favorites so far. The author added mystery to the novel when "the goldens" were killed, and when Lev returns. I wondered exactly what happened to Lev when he was by himself in the world, but he managed to keep himself alive and he made it to the graveyard. Sadly, I'm not sure what exactly has happened to him. Also, when Risa and Connor kiss its really so romantic. He shows his true affection for her. I want to know more about why Cleaver and his gang killed the unwinds and then why his gang left him exactly that part was a little confusing. I am nervous to see what will happen to the Admiral, and if he will be okay. And what will happen to Risa, Roland, and Connor.. Now that they have been caught and are going to be unwound. The book just keeps getting better !

Unwind #3

I think it was cool that they met a guy who received unwind parts and how he had two personalities. I think Connor should have beat that guy up that tried to rape Risa

Unwind part 3

This book is getting really interesting. I  learned about the process of unwinding a child. The guy CyFi had a kids brain, so he was able to tell how everything happened with the child. The idea of "unwinding" is shocking me and I feel bad for the kids. I'm kind of confused a little at what the whole process really is. I also want to know what is going to happen with Connor and Ronald?

Part 3

I liked how you got to learn a little bit more about CyFis background and about how he was storked. I felt as though this section was a little dry but we got to see Risa and Connors relationship continue to build up and it could really make a good situation later on.

Unwind Part 3

Such a good part. The suspense is getting so dramatic in this part. Connor developed greatly especially because he didn't retaliate toward Roland. Also a great deal about Levs life is revealed. Can't wait to keep reading on!
why is lev having second guesses about being unwound all of a sudden? he wanted it for the longest time, what changed when he talked to pastor dan?

Unwind Part 3

Part 3 is filled more suspenseful and plot changing moments that I didn't expect. I'm enjoying this book more and more as I read deeper into it.

Unwind part 3

It was interesting to see lev actually surviving in the wild. He is developing into a more likable character by helping out cyfi and showing remorse for turning on Connor and Risa. Cyfi's bipolar brain shows that unwinding really isn't too great and has many downsides. I predict that Connor and Risa will actually become a real couple in the coming chapters.

Unwind Part 3

Cyfi is hard to understand in the text. But im glad that Lev has some one to connect and talk with. I wonder what will happen between Connor and Roland.

Part 3

This book is really getting interesting I think its cool how the character is a part of an unwind and it must be weird for him to have a part if Somone else's thoughts in his head. Its still a little confusing with the characters and I have a lot of questions but I beleive they will be answered on the rest of the book.

Unwind part 3

The plot begins to thicken and many characters are struggling with internal conflicts with themselves. Levi is struggling with himself about Cyfi and Conner and Risa had trouble giving up the baby. Even though it had just caused them so much more trouble it was hard for them to it go.

Part 3

Unwind is actually getting really interesting, the process of unwinding a kid is, It's pretty cool that cyfi has someone else's brain. Then Connor and risa won't let the baby go, even tho it just caused them a lot of problems.

Unwind 3

As the book goes on, it's getting more interesting. It's interesting, yet shocking to learn about the process of unwinding a child. For example, the guy Cyfi. He had a kids brain, so he was able to tell how everything happened. The whole idea to me of "unwinding" is still confusing to me, but as we go through the book, it's a lot easier to understand the story..

Unwind Part 3

What bothered me the most were Connor and Risa. I don't understand why they're trying to instigate a fight between Roland. They aren't being forced to be together and they could leave that group if they honestly feel threatened by him. They clearly feel that there is tension between Roland and them, so I don't understand why they let themselves stay in that situation. I feel like they should leave and go somewhere safer so that they can't get hurt. Also, at the beginning of this part it was weird how Connor and Risa were both resistant towards letting the baby go to Hannah. Risa hated Connor for the fact that he took the baby in the first place and now that they had the option to give it to someone who can give it a safer home, they didn't want to give it up. I feel like the baby brought the two closer together in a way. After they gave the baby to Hannah, Connor started talking and thinking about Ariana. I don't think he mentioned her once during the time him and Risa pretended to be parents. Once he had his hands full with her and the baby, he didn't have the time to think about Ariana which led him to start having feelings for Risa. I feel like this is slowly foreshadowing the fact that Connor and Risa will eventually end up in a real relationship.

Part 4

This was by far my favorite part yet. The dark box took away any walls that these boys had up as protection. All their fears and inside thoughts came out and I was captivated. Their musings about how the laws are just educated guesses at right and wrong were really interesting, because it's so true. We only do what is "right" because we learn from an early age what should and shouldn't be done. Some of us follow those rules blindly but others begin to question it. And this Heartland war seems to have not fixed anything with debates of human life.
I also thought the part about consciousness was really cool. Connor thinking about himself being stretched out all over the place as an unwind really blew my mind. I keep putting myself in their shoes and I wonder what I would have done.
Lastly, isn't it weird to think that normal life is still going on while these kids are just trying to survive? They talk about the Olympics and an orchestra master (175-176) but real life correlating with this book is so strange to me. The fact that they can joke about their parts being spread everywhere shows that they're afraid but still trying to be brave.

Part 3

I'm getting really into this book. I really like the character of Cy.  I think its really interesting to see how parts of an unwind who still has consciousness can react in a body. The fact that Cy has such a struggle with it really captivates me. It must be so bizarre having another person's thoughts inside your head. I'm also wondering if Connor will be able to keep his cool for much longer against Roland, even if he plays things cool it bothers him that Risa is getting bothered by him.

Part 2

I was so surprised that Lev ran off on Risa and Connor. His cunning was really genius yet very risky. His remorse after hearing what Pastor Dan told him about his family is real. He realizes that he is really alone without them. I hope he is able to reconnect with them.

part 3

Now we are starting to understand a little more what unwinding is. It may be hard to believe but it shows that they don't actually die. For example, even though the kids brain was taken out of him, CyFi has some of the other kids thoughts like stealing. At first, Lev doesn't understand why CyFi is acting that way. He realized that it was that kids brain and that kid had problems. At this point in the book, I want to know what happens to them. I wonder if they get unwound or if they actually survive? Do Conner, Risa and Lev meet up again? What happens to everyone?

Unwind part 3

This part is mostly introducing CyFi and who he is, he's a pretty weird guy. I hate the way he talks and feel like I'm reading Huck Finn all over again, it's hard enough to understand people like tht in real life. But I think it's pretty interesting that he has part of an unwinds brain pieces in his brain making him two different people sometimes and I'm really curious to see how and were he is going to go with Lev.

Unwind 112-153

The part where CyFi claims he steals valuable objects because he has lobe of an unwind's brain is weird and a little funny. I'm trying to take this book seriously but it's just not happening for me. This is not necessarily a bad thing, it's just not what I'm used to reading.

Connor and Risa are staying in the same hideout at the moment. I wonder if Connor will fight Roland eventually.

Unwind Part 2

In this section of reading, Lev's character is more explained and developed. He plays by the rules and doesn't want to be surrounded by things of negative influence. As a 13 year old boy, I feel like he has a lot to say due to his large personality. Being the youngest of the 3, I don't really understand why he is so determined to escape from the group only to turn himself in. many people were trying to help him survive and he went against all of them. I feel like later on he will become afraid of the fact that he's alone and that he will try to get back together with Risa and Connor. Even though he might return with the others, I feel like they won't allow him back. They were trying to forget about him at the end of this part because it was making both of them frustrated.

Unwind Part 2

I am really enjoying this book so far! I am really confused on why Lev would turn on Risa and Connor if he was supposed to be their friend? Why would pastor Dan tell lev to run with them and try to stop the cops from coming? I can't wait to see how Lev is going to develop as the book goes on.

Unwind Part 2

I really like this book so far. I feel when I start reading I can't put it down. In part 2 I was surprised that Lev would turn on Risa and Connor. Especially after he told them he was their friend. Also from what I've learned it seems he really trusts Pastor Dan. So why would he turn on them when Pastor Dan told him to run?

Unwind Part 2

I wish I knew why Connor decided to run up to the baby before getting on the bus, and I wasn't sure what he was talking about when he was saying "this is not the same baby!" I thought that Lev was going to just go along with Connor and Risa, so I was somewhat surprised at his attempts to get them unwound. Not sure what a "clapper" is.

Unwind Part 1

The concept of the book feels a bit too impossibly messed up to be real, so it's hard for me to get into. I like how each chapter shows a different point of view, and how each individual's story comes together. There are some times that the author comes right out and says things that I wish weren't said, and instead left for the reader to decide. I also feel like the author tries too hard to make this society seem like a terrible place.

Unwind Part 2

Judging how lev was kidnapped in the first place I'm not really surprised at all that he would report Risa and Connor. Also i have to cut Lev some slack because like its said "13 years of brainwashing cant be erased in 2 days" its going to take some time!

Unwind Part 2

I am not suprised Lev tried to turn them over but i am happy that he realized what he did was wrong. Also i was happy that they continued with the action and the suspense like in part 1.

Unwind #2

I disagree with the law that a parent can stork a baby on a doorstep and the first person that sees the baby has to adopt it. I liked when Lev was going to call the cops on Connor and Risa but instead called Pastor Dan and he tells Lev to keep running.

Unwind reading 2 50 to 112

I think its crazy how children can just be storked and become a random persons child. I also like how the paster tells lev he is all wrong and tht lev should run. This book shows that some people have good morals for example the teacher helps them escape the school

Unwind part 2

Part 2 was very interesting. I was not surprised when lev turned Connor in Risa in. He said he was going to pretend to get on his good side then turn on them. I hope lev eventually figures out how bad unwinding is cause I feel bad for his ignorance. I look forward to part 3.

Unwind Part 2

What surprised me in this part was when Lev ran away from Risa and Connor and told the cops where they were.. Especially after the fact Lev told them that they can trust him, after they tied him up to the tree.

Unwind Part 2

I can't believe that Lev would turn on them after he told them he was their friend. Im surprised that the priest told Lev to go with them and stop the cops from coming. I would like to see how Lev develops as a character through the rest of this novel.

Part 2

Part 2 is much more exciting than the first, while reading part 2 I found myself very interested in what happens next. The author expands the characters more by explaining more about them.

Unwind Part 2

Much like part one part two is very gripping. The author is doing a great job at making the book suspenseful with danger and the fear of being caught and unwound around every corner. It defiantly makes me want to read on and see what going to happen to this group of desperate kids. Looking forward to part 3.

Unwind Part 2

I think that part 2 was very interesting and really helped all of the characters develop into their own personalities and their opinion of each other was changed. After reading about the hidden basement, it reminded me of smuggling humans. i thought it was a great idea by neal to incorporate an illegal smuggling operation but for good reasons. overall good part

Part 2

This part was extremely interesting. Lev developed greatly in this chapter and Connor was able to develop as well. The idea of having this system of aiding unwinds reminds me so much of the ideal of segregation in regard to the Underground Railroad. This concept could be consider to be history repeating itself and left me intrigued as to where the next location they'll be housed at, especially the overall destination of the graveyard!

Unwind part 2

I just started reading part 2 and these kids really think changing their clothes is going to make a different if someone sees them or not. They all still look the same regardless the clothing. Going out of the woods to get food isn't a good idea in my opinion. These kids are pretty stupid right now and need to step their game up.

Unwind Part 4

When I read this part of the book I was relieved that Connor and Risa have made it to the Graveyard. It seems like a safe place to me, especially for unwinds! Admiral definitely makes the unwinds sure that they are going to live until they are 18 and he is going to die trying to do it. Also when reading about Lev and Cy-Ty I was amazed to see that Tyler the unwind who gave parts of his brain to Cy had taken over Cy-Ty's body. This was a good realization for Lev and the concept of unwinding. The book continues to get more intense and I can't wait to keep reading about the Graveyard!

Unwind part 2

I personally feel that this part of the book showed alot of good changes for Connor and Risa. Connor not only admitted to himself that he does love his parents, but he found a way to forgive them. Although in this situation it would be perfectly acceptable to never forgive them he found a way to see past that. He found the good in the people that raised him. Even if only for a short time in his life.

Day 2 pg:53-112

I liked this part, Lev finally betrayed them but in doing so they met someone who can help them get farther to this place we don't know a lot about yet called the graveyard. Also got to hear the Humphrey Dunfee story that I was interested about. All in all pretty good just wondering where they are going to go from here.

Unwind Part 3

This part was an eye-opener for me. I realized from Cy-Fyi's character that taking another individual's body parts when they are unwound doesn't kill them are they still alive just only a part of them inside another body. This was definitely weird to think about considering Cy-Fyi's actions were skewed because of the brain bits he had placed into his brain after an accident. But I am un sure why they would unwind an individual who is a criminal and put their mind in a non criminal's mind. It seems bizarre to me. Otherwise this chapter was intriguing to me.

Unwind 53-112

I'm really curious how the exact unwinding process works. I wonder if its gruesome or done humanely. If it's gruesome, then that would be odd because it's already unfair that the child's life is being taken to save another.

unwind pgs 53-112 (part 2)

When the 19 year old mother had left her baby on the porch of a house, it reminded me of like being unwound. She just left it there, not knowing what would happen to it. That is like being unwound because if you go to the harvest camps, no one knows what happens to anyone that goes in there. All everyone knows is that parts of you go to other people. All they know is that you never do/will come back. It seems like Risa and Conner feel like they are suppose to hate each other for some reason but find it hard to. Towards the end of this part, Conner is starting think of ways they want to be reincarnated. This may be inferring that they feel like they wont survive much longer after they leave the shop. The thing that frustrates me about this part is that the mother just left the baby on the porch without any thought. Why would anyone ever want to leave a little innocent newborn baby alone on a porch were anything could have happened to it?!

Unwind part 1

I felt that this part of the book showed alot of tension for the three characters. I don't think that Lev is truthfully old enough to understand what is really going on with him and the decisions that are being made for him. I also feel like it's hypocritical for people that have never been unwound to enforce it on other people. Like Risa, people will never know what other people are capable of. Maybe these unwinds are more than capable of saving more lives growing into the people they are meant to be than they would being unwound and harvested.

Part Seven

Sappy. Not my kind of story. Id say decent at best, would not recommend to others as a top choice. The plot made sense and the story itself was alright, but I felt it was shallow from time to time. although semi dystopian, not enough for me to click. Will make an interesting essay when it's time, many different themes to go off of. I liked the hope aspect though, nice ending.

Part Six

This book is just losing it's flare for me the further on I read. The Happy Jacks Harvest Camp idea is just ironic in a crude kind of way. I don't understand how lev and his friends just made it in the camp, let alone with the materials they had with them. It just isn't as thought out of a story as I would like. The Winston and Julia connection is there and it's kind of irritating to read about. It's survival and adventure, not sappy forbidden love.

Comment post kdh

I agree with Sarah Carew. I wished that the book covered more on the war aspect of the prolife and pro choice war. However I disagree on the realistic part. Parents don't know how their child will grow up and who they will be as a person. It's a gamble that they take and the unwinding is a choice of termination of a child......but I think it's all a government conspiracy

3-50 Unwind

First I thought it was really cool that Andy let Connor escape even if it wasnt as successful as it could have been. I really liked how all 3 of the kids had there own section so that you could learn about their background. I also loved how you could see how all of their stories meshed together and you got to see that situation through the point of views of Connor, Lev, and Risa. I am excited to see how their escape continues since they are all wanted now.

Unwind part 1: O M G this is ganna cause some debate!

Holy moly baloney what a book! I am so intrigued with this concept and it goes along with the Neal Shustermans other book Everlost! Being a Christian this topic seems to be as controversial as abortion and i have so much to say about the morals of unwinding, but thats probably a whole nother topic. I love the way this book is written by jumping from the different characters point of views. I cant wait to see what happens and it definitely makes me want to keep reading!

unwind #1

the book was really interesting. the book became a little choppy when the author switched the peoples point of veiws. i still dont know if being "Unwound" is a good thing or a bad thing because the one kid seemed happy about it and the other two were not. also, is it a good thing or a bad thing and what happens when you are "unwound". the author keeps you guessing which made me want to read more.

Unwind part one

I was surprised on how easy it was to start reading this book. Usually it takes me 2-3 chapters to understand a writers style and understand their lingo. However, this story is surprisingly easy to read from page one! Also I enjoy how each perspective is divided into chapters instead of the usual "surprise change in narratives without warning", that most authors usually do. I am enjoying this first part where the escape had turned into a thriller. Also I found it funny how Conner was denied and betrayed by his girlfriend on top of being metaphorically being slapped in the face for being an unwind.
Connor needs to get his ish together, goin back to save lev?? Comon dude he doesnt care that hes gonna be unwound, he wants to be! Save yourself and help risa, people who wont betray you and try to run away. He risked his life and rida's by being an idiot!!

Unwind Part 1

This story although interesting, was very confusing when it jumped around from character to character. I didn't like how the author took the view of one character and did the different views of the other characters in different parts then jumped back to the first character. I also feel like the author made up words like "tithe" which I have never heard of and didn't like. But in contrast I liked description the author used through this part, especially when explaining Connors dream of him being a kid drinking a type of cider, it made me feel as though I was there drinking that cider and being a part of the book. The author did a great job of making me,the reader, feel as though I was the character going though their emotions. For example Connors emotions when he had built up anger towards his parents and wanting them to feel guilty, and Marcus's emotion when giving his toast at Lev's party. I don't understand how parents could just give up their children!! You brought them to earth, you shouldn't take them away just because they did something wrong or there is an over population, that part of the book is messed up and completely wrong. I would like to know what went through the authors mind when writing the novel. Who in their right mind thinks of ideas like this?!

unwind part 1

my overall reaction to the reading was shocking that kids would have to live some of their life only to be unwind. it was weird to learn that the kids' parents didn't have any regrets or sympathy towards what they were doing. for example, I didn't like how connor's parents planned a vacation after the date of his unwinding. after all the years spent raising their child, it's hard to imagine how a mother or father would be able to sacrifice their kid like it was no big deal. what I also didn't like about it was how it went back and forth between characters. it was harder to follow that way, and once all three characters met together I thought that individual character chapters should stop.

Unwind Part 1

My reaction to Unwind so far is shocked. I honestly can't believe this would even be thought to be a way of life in the future. During Connor's part in the story, I couldn't believe that his parents would do that to him, and then plan a vacation the day after. That was messed up in my opinion. Another thing that I found shocking was the Lev's family was going to unwind him just because they had to many children, that isn't a good enough reason, (no excuse is good enough to terminate their child). And the fact that the parents choose to have another child, and it isn't Lev's fault. If they didn't want to have another child then they shouldn't have. I feel bad for Risa because she was homeless, so she didn't have a chance to even be a good child. This book is very shocking and heart breaking in a way, but also bring attention, and interest to the reader.
I don't like the authors structure of the book because its very confusing in the beginning to follow a character even though they all tie in to each other. this book does keep me thinking though because of how it switches. I'm confused about the difference about a tithel and an unwind, or are they the same thing.

unwind part 1

I think this book is pretty cool. I like how you go from different point of views so you can get a different perspective from different people. Also I think that the law that if you find a baby on your doorstep you have to keep it is crazy. that just doesn't seem fair.

Unwind Part 1

I thought that this novel was very interesting, but a little surprised that this "Unwind" method was used. This book kind of reminds me of the movie Saw because I feel as if this would be used in that movie because they do these gruesome acts in order to get out of an obstacle like in this book the used this method to teach teenagers a lesson. I found it weird that if you don't want a baby you can just leave it on someone's doorstep and they have to care for it.

Unwind Part One

This book surprised me because I actually found it interesting. I was surprised that these kids have their whole lives ahead of them and they are being 'unwound.' I feel as if this novel relates to our nation because we are facing many debates and conflicts about abortion. I felt frustrated that they are trying to end their lives.

unwind part one

I like how the book goes from character to character and how they all meet up at the same spot. when the author goes to each character he makes  it easier to read the book because it is organized.

Unwind part 1

I like how the author switches back in forth through the characters perspectives. It helps the reader understand each of the characters reasoning and what they think of each other. The book has enough action where it isn't boring but not so much that its overwhelming.

Part 1

I found part one to be very intriguing and gripping the minute i started reading it. The whole process of unwinding makes me curious and wanting to know more but at the same time it disturbs me. The author really gets you into the characters and makes you feel for them, through reading i was feeling bad for Connor and Risa. Overall the author did a great job in pulling me in and i'm looking forward to chapter 2.

Unwind 3-50

I found this novel extremely interesting, especially the fact that its relative to the conflicts our nation faces on the idea of abortion. However, I feel as though "unwinding" developed human beings is more immoral then terminating an undeveloped fetus. Perhaps this book is outlining Americas future moral standard. There's no doubt that this book could represent America's future.

Part 1

This book is really taking some interest to me. So far the book is making me very frustrated on the fact that these kids have lives ahead of them, yet they are being unwound. Like Risa, she's got a good life going for her with the piano, but just because they need to lower the population of the ward they are sending her to be unwound. And then Connor. He seems to be trying to sort himself out, but what did he really do that made his parents want to have him unwound? The fact that these parents are okay with sending their kid to be killed is unbelievable. The only thing I see that seems to be getting through their heads as to why its a good thing is that their organs and body parts go to people that need them, making them "not completely gone". Either way, this book is really good, yet makes me so angry while reading it. Can't wait to see how the three of them turn out with their whole running away plan.

Unwind pg:3-50

Good book so far and good plot, although I doubt tht we would ever do this it's still a pretty cool what if situation. Looking forward to seeing them on the run until they turn 18 .

Unwind pgs 3-50

The book unwind so far is a very interesting book and I can't wait to read on. I'm just confused on why they would unwind kids like Connor, Lev, and Risa? What is the idea behind unwinding these children? I also don't understand why parents would want to have kids and then just know they are going to get rid of them after 18? Why would Connor's parents for example plan a trip to the Bahamas the day after they are sending their son away to be unwound. Another thing is why didn't Neal start the book off with some knowledge on the war to talk about what was happening and how it  connects with the children being unwound.

Unwind Part 2

Surprisingly, this book continues to keep my suspense increasing. I feel truly bad for Lev as he tries to escape from his kidnappers he realizes that he only made situations worse for himself because his family lied to him he wasn't actually a tithe, he was a unwound. Risa and Connor are only trying to help him considering they are in his situation which is very nice of them. Lev finds out the hard way they were helping him and he betrayed them. This made him alone which was sad; only because he didn't know better. Also I felt for Connor when he claimed the storked baby as his own he wants the baby to have a functional life and not be unwound like himself and the story of the stork he was encountered with was absolutely horrible. This book definitely has a core theme of the negatives in people and society.

unwind part 1

So far I like that the book is really easy to understand but it seemed a little weird for me that it starts off with one character and goes through all the other characters stories and comes back to the first story in the end of part one. However, I don't like that Conner, Lev and Risa are being unwound for no reason. I personally don't think it is anyone's "destiny" to be 'killed' or 'unwound'. I wonder if they will survive or if they will be found and 'unwound'. The only thing I don't understand is why their parents would go through all the trouble to raise a child to just get rid of them after they turn 13. I know for me it is really hard to let go of things, so it would be really hard for me to let go of someone that I had taken care of for 13 years and grown to love. If you had brought them onto this planet then you should accept the responsibility of taking care of them until they can take care of themselves. Then when they are old enough to make their own decisions, they can do whatever they want. It doesn't make sense to me why the author would write this book because it is so messed up to even think of doing.

3-50

The beginning of the book is a bit confusing and boring as it is with most books, but after things are explained you really start to get into it. The author does jump around a lot between characters and I find that a little annoying.

Part 1

I like the characters in Unwind. I don't like the narration is set, I prefer to have the characters thoughts in the reading but the characters I think are developed well enough. I like the dystopian society and the twisted aspect the world has taken on. I cant wait to see how these three teenagers interact and what comes next for them.

pg 3-50

this book in the beging pages si a bit slow but when you get started you want to keep reading just to see how the main charecters will end if they make it to 18 or get unwound.

Unwind Part 1

I enjoyed reading part 1 of Unwind. It was different that the author broke up the characters opinions into sections throughout the reading of part 1. I liked to see each of the characters different points of view of each of their complex situations. It was weird to understand the concept of unwinding and how different characters thought of it has a privilege and others thought of it as a punishment. Unwinding seemed to be an extreme that wouldn't allow individuals to be their own person. It was very interesting and I liked reading it so far.

Brianna Meka

Part Five

I don't really have much of an opinion on this section. The story is losing it's shine for me and although it may not be dry, it's not as intriguing as I would hope. The graveyard concept is quaint. Refugees are a cheap way to extract emotion in a story though. The development between the 'forbidden love' between Connor and Rita (my Winston and Julia) makes me wonder if she'll do something in the next section since they're incarcerated now to betray him. (If either gives their life/they did together/something remotely Rome-Juliet-esque happens I will be disappointed)
