The Kite Runner 25-end

I'm satisfied with the ending. It was realistic yet powerful. Overall it was a good book-an emotional read. I'm glad I had the chance to learn about a culture very different from my own.

The Kite Runner 23 & 24

I really hope Amir can adopt Sohrab, but Amir is making promises he doesn't know if he can keep. That is definitely not helping Sohrab trust him. What happened to Sohrab in the bathroom? Did he commit suicide?

The Kite Runner 22

Well, Amir got what he wanted, physical punishment. I'm so angry he didn't fight for the boy but rather took the beating to feel better about himself. This chapter is disgusting in more ways than one.

The Kite Runner ch. 19-21

Amir's growth in these chapters is interesting. He is less self-centered now, seeing his homeland in distress.

I can't wait to learn more about the man wearing the sunglasses. I wonder how he will react when Amir asks if he can take Sohrab away.

TKR 25-END

decent ending, I don't blame Sohrab for his lack of speech because of all that happened to him. I feel bad that he cut himself, when he told Amir he wishes he let him die it was touching (obviously not in a good way) but anyways the ending was decent. Full circle, the story was one loop of itself. It wasn't bad, I enjoyed the little excerpts much more than the actual plot.

TKR 23 & 24

Poor Sohrab. These chapters were pretty much all about technicalities of adoption, and how Amir was righteous for trying to adopt him. I don't think he's righteous- he has no other option. There are only 1 or 2 chapters left, I wonder how resolution will occur. Did Sohrab kill himself of just get injured? The plot thickens

TKR 22

good, but not as emotional as expected. Amir proved he is a huge coward, just laying there instead of fighting back in Hassan's honor. It's pathetic that his son is more of a man than Amir is. Aseef is gross , this book is gross, I just want a happy ending. When will Amir show he's a man instead of letting others fight his battles for him instead?

TKR 19,21 & 22

The way Farid treated Amir at first was nice. I enjoyed the brutality of his words- it humbled Amir in a way I believe he needed. Watching their friendship develop as they begin to understand one another is a nice dynamic- I hope nothing happens to Farid. I know from hearing it from others who the sunglasses man is. I wonder what's coming in 22.

TKR 16, 17, and 18

These chapters were interesting. I like how it connected Baba's ignorance to Amir's. It shows that fathers are like sons- and although I don't condone Amir's behavior it makes it a little less bad. I wonder how Amir will do back in Kabul. I have a feeling the story is about to get interesting.

The Kite Runner ch. 16-18

I'm glad Amir has a chance to redeem himself by helping Hassan's son. I wonder if Amir's conscience will be cleared by this, or if he will continue to feel guilty because of his relations to Hassan.

TKR 13-15

I enjoyed the wedding scene. The description was just enough and when Amir told Sonya he loved her, I liked how he connected it back to Hassan and the idea of his wedding. It was sad for Baba to die- but it's nice to see how many people were there to mourn his passing. He was a prominent man in the afghan society and it's nice to see how even in America people care about him.

TKR Part 11-12

I was very interested in the part where Sonya told her story and how Amir said it was like she was free and he wasn't. He should've told her the story about Hassan, she expressed not wanting to start the wedding on lies and he put that divide between them. I enjoy the way baba and Amir's relationship is developing.

Kite runner 11 and 12

Baba is passing away they moved to America where baba worked at a gas station. Baba finds out he has cancer. Amir is going to be a writter and is getting married. Parents new Eachother in afganastan so they allowed it.

The kite runner chapters 13-15

I think that it was a good idea that they had the wedding before Baba passed away, but usually weddings are more planned out and don't happen this fast. Amir should have really learned more about Soraya's family before he decided to marry her. I thought it was upsetting that they aren't able to have a baby. It was shocking to hear that Rahiem isn't doing very well and he called Amir to come see him in Pakistan. I think it's significant that Amir still thinks about Hassan and how he is doing. Eventually I believe Soraya is going to know what happened. It was sad to hear what Pakistan has become since the Taliban took over, I reallly want to know why Rahiem said that Hassan was living with him? What does that mean? Also I'm curious what the favor is?

TKR 6

I really like Baba. He's straightforward and set in his beliefs. He isn't anti-anything. He just sees the world for what it is... crap. But his "adjustment" period has to come to a close eventually, he cant pine after Afghanistan forever. Although I imagine it isn't easy.

"What happens in a single day could change a lifetime" Amir really made some huge changes to his life. He cold still be with Hassan if he had changed things.

I'm happy for Amir, I wonder if he'll ever tell Soraya about Hassan

TKR 5

Poor Baba. Its interesting to see how much character he actually has. He really does have a tender heart and it isn't just all show that hes so selfless. He really loves Ali and Hassan. I hope Amir knows how much he really broke his father's heart.
Again Baba shows his true insides. He was willing to lose his life for a woman he did not know.
Kamal's father killing himself was really crazy.. Such a large message shown in so little words.

TKR 4

The only thing that stuck out to me was Amir's whispering in the middle of the night. It's like saying what he had experienced out loud really cemented his guilt, especially because noone heard him say it. And then Hassan asking what HE did wrong? Then he actually asked Baba about getting new servants? Amir is really getting on my last nerve here.

TKR 3

Im trying not to hate Amir right now. I get it hes a cowardly kid and theres a cultural aspect that holds him back as well but seriously? Hassan was literally his doormat all of Amir's life. The least Amir could do is take a punch in the face.

Kite Runner Day 2

I wonder what happened that Baba is so worried. Things are changing in Afghanistan. Amir is really selfish, I know he wants Babas attention but Hassan deserves recognition too. Its amazing that Hassan is always so attuned to what Amir is thinking.

The Kite Runner Chapters 25- to end

I liked the sense of imagery in these chapters and how concepts from previous chapters were brought up and further described with what was going on in Amir's life at that time. His flashbacks always were eye openers. And to me Amir seems a better person after everything he has experienced. The books ended with a good metaphor about the melt of snow, and the relationship between Sobran and Amir.

The Kite Runner Chapters 23-24

Honestly right when I thought things were getting better for Amir and that he was being forgiven. Mr. Andrews daughter committed suicide and now something with Sobran is not right. I knew Soraya would find a way to get Sobran to America and now its going to be impossible since Sobran is sick or dead. Amir found him in the bathroom. WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM???????

The Kite Runner Chapter 22

Oh my god, I cant believe that the Taliban was Aseef and Aseef challenged weak Amir to basically a battle. I can't believe he was beating him to the extent he was. And when he described when he was beaten and he was laughing, Amir did the same. Its funny how Sobran stuck up for Amir even though he doesnt know anything about him. And he beats Aseef which gets them both their freedom.

The Kite Runner Chapters 19-21

I cant believe what has happened to Kabul and the land that Amir used to live in. It is completely destroyed of its beauty and culture. I am nervous about the meeting with the Head Taliban. And if they will find Sohrab. This trip is an eye opener to Amir and his small acts of kindness definitely make him a better person then he once was. When is Aseef going to come back into the story? Did he join the Taliban...???

The Kite Runner Chapters 16-18

These chapters were full of suspense. My questions about Hassan have been anwsered. And I am disappointed that he had to past that way. I can't believe Baba for his judgemental character. Or how he told Amir that lying was the biggest sin, even though he commited that sin. Maybe he was trying to make his son better then he was. But Amir must feel even worse that he watched his brother get raped. Rhaim puts a lot of stress and responsiblity on Amir to find Hassan's son and save him, maybe Amir feels that he could make up to Hassan by finding his son. Hassan is described exactly as he once was in his appearance and personality. I am intrigued to see what will happen in the next chapters!

TKR Chapter 9 & 10

Hassans departure leaves Amir thinking about his past, and he comes to realization that his child hood is over. Also   Kamals father killing himself was a very dark and depressing way to end a chapter.

TKR Chapter 8

This chapter really finishes of the relationship between Amir and Hassan where we see Amir throw pomegranates at Hassan to provoke him to throw them back. But Hassan won't, this angers Amir and makes the whole situation worse.

The kite runner chapter 11&12

Chapter 11 really shows how Baba and Amir's relationship is getting better. When Amir was a kid Baba wanted nothing to do with him and he wasn't a very proud father. Now that Amir has graduated high school, and is now going onto college I feel like Baba is very proud and supporting him. He even took him out to dinner and bought him a new car. I was really surprised when Baba got diagnosed with cancer. I didn't expect that to come in the book. I'm glad that Amir is going to be with the general's daughter. Also I thought at the end of chapter 12 Amir was going to tell Soraya about how he betrayed Hassan, but he didn't. I don't know if he will be honest and tell her since he kept what happened to Hassan from everyone.

Chapter 7

This chapter especially the end was both very confusing and disturbing. The scene where Assaf violated Hassan really brought a darker side into this book.

KiteRunner ch 11-12

I found the part where Baba says "Brezhnev is massacring Afghans and all that peanut eater can say is I won't come swim in your pool" was funny. Also I like the way baba is about politics. It's kind of refreshing

KiteRunner ch 13,14,15

I know weddings here are usually well planned out but I need knew that afgan weddings were even more strictish and thought out.
I really do love how after all the time they've been seperate from eahother than Amir still thinks of Hassan and how he's doing. Like when he was wondering if maybe Hassan had gotten married too.
I really don't know how to feel about Babas death. Reading it I was glad he does peacefully but I didn't know how to feel because Baba wasn't a great father to Amir in the beginning but as Amir got older Baba became more and more proud. So I don't know.
I do know that not many people like the romance that comes into a serious book like this but I thought that the conversation that Soraya and Amir had about Sorayas past and the way Amir reacted, so accepting was perfect because not only do you find people that are hard of accepting in Afghanistan but there are a lot of people like that here and when you find someone that will accept you for ever mistake you've made and every flaw like Amir accepted Soraya than it's an amazing thing.

The Kite Runner 11/12

I like the fact how you can see how difference of the relationship between Baba and Amir. Back when Amir was a child, Baba had very little interest in him and now Baba is proud of him of school and bought him a new car. I feel that Baba is better then what he was.

Kite Runner day 7

Baba's death is very sad. It really makes baba seem more human then the beginning of the book. I feel bad for soraya because she cannot escape her past. I was glad that Amir became a successful author and I'm sure baba would be proud of him if he was still alive. It was a blast from the past for Amir when rahim Khan called him. I'm curious about what happens next.

Kite runner day 6

It is very obvious that baba is unhappy in America. He doesn't really understand American ideals. Baba and Amir's relationship is rekindled when Amir graduates from high school. I believe soraya will fill the void in Amir's life when baba passes away.

Kite runner day 5

I was surprised by Amir's actions. I dir not think he would go so tarot get rid of Hassan. I was also surprised by baba's forgiveness even though the only crime is theft. I think he knew that Hassan didn't really steal the watch. In chapter 10 it is still obvious that Amir has not learned to courageous.

The kite runner chapter 8

Hassan is depressed now and just does the things he really has to an then goes to be alone. It is painful to see Amir because he possibly knows what had happened on the alley with Assef. Also, it is awful for Hassan to be serving Assef and his friends after what they had done to him.

The kite runner chapter 7

I find it interesting that Amir is afraid of the monster but not Hassan. Also the fact that Hassan can not swim but he still tells Amir that he will keep him safe.  Anti tries to forget what happened to Hassan by accepting that his father loves him.

The Kite Runner Ch. 13-15

There are multiple times in the book when characters say there's a price to pay for everything. Amir has kept this rape secret for years and it's weighing him down. It's depressing he assumes the reason Soraya can't have kids is his fault.

The Kite Runner Chapter 15

It was intriguing to see that Rhaim was sticking to his cultural ways and not leaving to seek more help in order for him to live longer. Their conversations seemed to be easy going, but when Rhaim brings up Hassan, Amir goes cold. I am curious as to what Rhaim is going to say about Hassan.

The Kite Runner Chapters 13-14

Its good to see that Baba and Amir's relationship has finally gotten better before Baba passes away. Soraya is good to Baba, and helps him often because he is unable to help himself. It is satisfying that Amir publishes a book. But I cant help but think that Amir is being punished for his past so he is unable to have a baby with Soraya. This causes tension with their relationship. I am curious to see what happens when Amir and Rhaim Kan meet again after all of these years.

TKR ch 13-15

everyone is dying but i guess that's what happens when a story is ending. I hate characters like General T- people who abuse the system are the absolute worse. The situation in afghan is much easier to picture after going on the field trip. I can't believe at a time the Taliban was accepted. The book is getting interesting, I can't wait to find out what's up in Hassan's Life

Day 6: chapters 11&12

I think the day that Amir graduatedfrom  highschool was the day that started his and Babas renewed relationship. Baba is extremely proud of this accomplishment, hes even going as far as accepting his choice with going to junior college for writing. That shocked me a little bit, considering how Baba always wanted Amir be more like him. Day by day it seems like their relationship is improving greatly. Baba having cancer and not wanting to do anything about it confuses me a little bit. On the brightside of things Amir is going to marry the general's daughter, he seems at peace with himself besides the whole situation with Baba. While talking to Soraya on the phone he almost told her about Hassen and everything that happened, I think hes going to tell her about about everything sometime soon.

TKR ch 11-12

I like this jump in the story. I wonder if Amir will make it as a writer, and from the way he reacted about the ID makes me feel like Baba is a bull in a china shop. (him the bull, the shop America) I wonder why Amir is intimidated by General Taheri, and if he has reason to be. Sonya's past is intresting. It's sad Baba dies.

The Kite Runner 11-12

Its weird to see Baba struggling to get along witg life in the US even though he talks about how much he likes it. I also like that Amir becomes insterested in that girl at the swap meet.

Kite runner chapters 11 and 12

Y doesn't Amir tell anyone about his dad. Like it should be a good thing if he told someone

The Kite Runner Part 6

Why did Baba decline treatment and why does Baba flip out when he doesn't have his ID? Baba still doesn't approve of Amir when he tells him he is going to major in creative writing but ends up dying happy because Baba realizes that it's what Amir wants to do and he is about to ask Soraya to marry him.

The Kite Runner Part 5

This part is when Ali makes Hassan and himself leave because he found out what Happened to Hassan and that Amir watched it happen. Also he knew that Hassan didn't really steal the watch but he got the hint that Amir didn't want them there anymore. In chapt 10 they are escaping from Afghanistan and Baba almost gives his life in defense for a complete stranger. At the end the man kills himself because his son died.

The Kite Runner 11-12

I was glad that Amir graduated school & now he's going to college. Surprisingly Baba was happy for Amir graduating. I was shocked when Baba got diagnosed with cancer. I was proud to see Amir met a girl at the flea market.

Kite runner 11 and 12

Anita father and him are living in America and baba is working as a manager of a gas station. Every Sunday they set up a stand at a flea market and sell stuff. Baba meets this girl who baba new her father back from Kabul and Amir realy likes her. Baba ends up being rly sick and finds out he's has cancer. But he doesn't want treatment and dosent tell anyone. This is sad because he has a sesure at the flea market in front of everyone

The Kite Runner 9-10

I was surprised that Hassan & Ali were going to leave. I thought that if baba said he forgave them that they would stay but they left anyway. I think eventually Amir will regret doing what he did to get rid of Hassan.
I think its horrible that baba goes from being such a wealthy man and well respected to being a gas station manager. And amir is still selfish. I dont like him. Its crazy that baba is actually dieing

Kite runner chapters 11 & 12

Amir must have been extatic when baba said he was proud of him at graduation. In the beginning chapters all Amir wanted was to have his father be proud. I never expected baba to end up with cancer.

Day 5 : chapters 9&10

Amir is selfish. I personally think Hassen shouldn't  have gone along with the whole situation involving the "stolen" money. I don't understand how Amir can possibly be okay with himself, first he let the whole situation in the alley way occur even after all those times Hassen risked his well being for Amir. Amir couldn't even risk his well being once. It seems like Babas and Amirs relationship hasn't changed much considering the way he snapped at Amir on the back of the truck saying "havent i taught you anything?".I think baba still deeply wishes that Amir would've  turned out a little better than what he has turned out to be. Amir definitely still feels some resentment from Baba with his thoughts being that his fathers life went from having large amounts of success to only having two suitcases and a disappointing son. Lastly, I noticed that while on the truck Amir had a flashback of that day in the alley way....as much as Amir would probably want to forget about it something like that just doesn't go away.

The Kite Runner ch. 11-12

I'm happy Baba and Amir are getting along more; Baba was proud of Amir's graduation and bought him a car.

Baba also approves of Amir's interest in Soraya, I don't think he complained about her once.

Amir will probably struggle to be honest with his wife about his past.

Friday, December 6, 2013

The Kite Runner Chapters 11-12

It is interesting to see how much Baba and Amir's life has changed since they have moved to America. They no longer have a large home, and they are not known, this breaks Baba down. Amir constantly is reminded of his past, but he is trying to move towards his future with his new wife to be. In upcoming chapters I am guessing that Baba will pass away since he refuses treatment, also I admire Amir's wife to be because she lets out her past before entering her future. I still wonder about Hassan, and how is life is going now though?

Chapter 7

I don't understand how Amir can act so heartless to Hassan when they have been together since they were born. He should have helped Hassan while he was getting raped instead of watching.

The kite runnah post 8,9&10

I feet that Hassan is completly justified and leaving. Nobody deserves to take as much emotionall and psysicall pain that Hassan takes on constant basis by being Amirs friend.

Chapter 9-10

I did not think Ali and Hassan were going to leave. I think Hassan's going to come back or Amir is going to find Hassan.

The Kite Runner chapter 9 & 10

These two chapters to me were very intense and made me very disgusted. I was surprised that Ali and Hassan left. I never thought that would happen because they were so close with Baba. I was very upset with Amir that he was setting Hassan up, I think he is being very selfish and needs to stop. The "rain" when Ali and Hassan leave shows change, and I wonder how things are going to be different with the rest of the book. I was very shocked when Kamal's father kills himself after his son dies. I think it was the spure of the moment and he was very upset, and maybe his son was the only one he had and the way he felt after he died, he wanted to shoot himself.

TKR ch 9-10

Amir infuriates me. These chapters were morbid to read, but I understand the pain that Kamal's father felt. I did not think he was completely wrong for killing himself- his son was probably all he had. The way that Kamal had been raped as well is kind of a slap in the face to Amir. Maybe something will happen to him if he keeps up with his stupidity.

KiteRunner ch 9-10

These entire two chapters left in in some kind of shock. Ali and Hassan leaving. That was something I would have never saw coming because they were all so close with Baba. I think it was a good thing that a softer side of Baba was shown though because I see him as a father that doesn't and will never be able to accept his son for who he is, but to see although he is the way he is towards Amir that he really does have a heart and does care about people. That is untill on that truck he almost killed Kamir. I could imagine the fear though because they're on a trip to make it to somewhere safe and you never know what could happen in the midst of that trip so try to get there as fast as possible. The other thig that shocked me was that Kamal's father killed himself because Kamal had died. I feel like that could represent something for further in the book or maybe something now but I can't really think of what, but it was sure one heck of a way to end the chapter.

The Kite Runner 9-10

I really don't understand why Amir had to set Hassan up. It isn't fair to Hassan, since he's done so much for him. And another thing that caught me off guard was that Hassan even admitted to it even though he didn't.

The Kite Runner chapter 8

I still feel that Hassan knows that Amir saw what happened. And the guilt is killing Amir, so he feels the need to be mean and rude to him, even after everything Hassan has done and been through for Amir.

The Kite Runner ch. 9-10

It rains in the scene where Ali and Hassan drive away, symbolizing that this is a turning point in the story.

There are also more scenes implying other characters were or almost raped, continuously reminding Amir of Hassan.

The Kite Runner- Chapters 9-10

In both chapters, Baba and Amir's relationship continually gets worse. I want to know what happened to Ali and Hassan when the war broke out? What was the car ride like to the bus station? I feel like the war is a little random and Im not sure when it happened and why? The bus and how they are trying to escape is a little confusing, and when Kamal dies, what exactly was wrong with him in the first place??? On page 120 there is italics writing that is important but Im not sure what the meaning is towards the themes of the book.

Kite runner chapter 8

I feel like Amir and Hassan's relationship is just growing further and further apart, and I'm wondering if the pomegranate is going to have any significance towards the end of the book? If it is foreshadowing that something bad is going to happen with their relationship or with one of the characters? I don't like that still hasn't told anyone about the rape. I didn't really like this chapter that much

The kite runner post 3

I think it's messed up that rape could just happen like that and Amir was so concerned with himself he can't stop something horrible from happening

TKR CH 8

Once again, I'm not sure how I feel about this chapter. I don't know how the Hitler references will come into play at the end, but I feel it will be very significant. The whole pomegranate scene was important to me, because I feel it is a big turning point in Hassan and Amir's friendship. When Amir has to use violence to try to provoke Hassan, it is solely related to his guilt. It reaches the point where Hassan hits himself with the pomegranate, and that could be seen as a point where the friendship starts to really take a turn for the worse.

Kite Runner chapter 8

Amir is being even more mean to Hassan and they grow apart. I feel as if that's gonna change and they're gonna become close again.

TKR chapter 8

I love how assef got Amir a biography of Hitler. Assef is doing a great job of making the adults think hes a good kid.

kite runner chap8

amir and hassan are growing apart, thats not gonna be any kind of good for amir and i think hassan may kill himself and thats why amir gets the call earlier in the book

KiteRunner ch8

The fact that Amir won't tell anyone what he saw even though he knows it would be the best way to go about things makes me angry although I do understand the conflict he's having. I feel like when worst comes to worst between Assef, Hassan, and Amir that Baba likes Assef so much that he probably wouldn't do anything about it. Not believing them. Although he might for just Hassan, I believe if he knew Hassan was raped by Assef that he would definitely do something about it. That's why I think one of them needs to come to terms with the event that happened and do something about it; not just act like everything is fine and just put up with the power and control Assef is holding over them. Especially Hassan when he had to serve Assef from a silver platter.

Kite runner part 4

I was shocked at the end of the chapter. I expected Hassan to be beat up, maybe killed but not raped. I was also shocked that Amir did nothing to help him, even though Hassan was willing to give up his life for that kite. I feel like the relationship between hassan and Amir will never be the same after this.

I cant believe that amir played his boy again by saying he stole the momey and the watch from him. And i also cant believe that hasaan just agreed even when he knew he didnt take it. Amir has no heart and isnt loyal to his "boy". He should of said something abiut what he seen in the alle when hasaan was gettin raped and this would of never happen. Im happy baba dont pay any attention to him he dont deserve it

part 3

why does assef rape Hassan? is he different? I thought it was cruel that Amir just watched.

The kite runner part 5

Since Kamal got raped too, is this foreshadowing Hassan? If his father found out would he kill himself too?

34-58

It sucks to see what Amir did, or didn't do about seeing Hassan get raped. Honestly I don't know what I would have done in his situation", I would hope that i would have stood up to Assef and been courageous but I can't say I would. Not that I obviously say it's right but I have a sympathy/hate relationship with Amir. Hassan's loyalty is something I admire and I feel like this culture is similar to how it was a while ago, but with a lot of respect of servants to slave.

Pg 1-34

It's interesting to see a story where so far the Dad is rich and has made a name for himself. Usually I would have excepted a story of a family with poverty. It also seems weird that every person has their own slave/servant and that even though they treat each other so we'll that it still is the sort of power dominance that Amir has over Hassan.

Chapter 9 and 10

Why did Hassan and his dad leave? Did he tell his dad what happend? Why didn't hassans father tell baba what happend? The part where baba crys just shows that he actually has feelings and he does care but like most people he showed he cared to late. Then the part when they need to go by the Russian soilder and baba offers to take a bullet for the women is starting to slowly change my opion on him. He showed he has honor.

The Kite Runner ch. 8

It's so frustrating that Hassan won't do anything to Amir, but the author wants to emphasize how pure the boy is even after he endures rape.

Runner chapter 7

Amir's actions were really surprising when seeing his best friend beaten and raped in front of him. Amir was cowardly and selfish when Baba congratulates Amir for winning. However I don't understand why Amir never did anything. Not a good friend.

The kite runner chapter 7

How do you think the rape will affect the relationship between Hassan and Amir's father? Will his father continue " favoring "Hassan?

kite runner 3

why would aseef want to rape hassan? what does he gain? is he homosexual? this was just weird

The kite runner chapter 7

1. Do you think that Amir and Hassan will divide if Hassan finds out that Amir witnessed the whole rape and didn't step in to do something?

2. Will the rape of Hassan get Amir more attention from his father?

The kite runner 1-34

The book is talking about how he and his dad are not that close.  And baba and Hassan r very close

KiteRunner ch.7 discussion question

How did you feel when Amir cow added away from helping Hassan? Do you believe that there are two sides to Amir?

The Kite Runner 4

I think Hassan secretly knows Amir saw him in the alley way. So when Amir throws the pomegranates at Hassan, he doesn't want to throw them back to give him more guilt.

The Kite Runner Part 4

1. What is up with the pomegranates and Amir?

2. I wonder if Hassan knows that Amir saw him get raped?

The kite runner

I think the only reason y Amir was hitting Hassan with the fruit was because he felt guilty for not telling anyone wat happend to Hassan. Y didn't Amir tell any one.

Chpter 8

Hassan is being quite because of the hole incident that happend he just sleeps and does his chores. I wanna no why he won't talk and ask for help ? Why is he just staying quite?

Monday, November 25, 2013

the kite runner part 3

What really bothered me was that Amir witnessed the entire rape and didn't step in to do anything. It goes to show how little he cares about Hassan. I feel like as time goes on, Hassan will find out that Amir watched and didn't intervene.

The kite runner 35-58

This part of the novel was sort of annoying. I was disgusted with Assef and his character and how he was a bully. I feel like Amir is just getting jealous of Hassan  because Baba cares about both of them. It was really nice that Baba got Hassan  a plastic surgeon to fix his lip. I want to know more about the kite flying tournements and what the significance is with the book and if it had anything to do with the title? But Hassan is the best kite runner in Kabul, does that mean anything ?

Kite runner pt 2

The gunfire feels like it's a foreshadowing between Amir and Hassan's friendship. Though Hassan  seems to be a loyal friend who wishes to protect Amir. I agree with the comment that says that someone might die because with increasing tension in society and with assef as a threat things lead to alot of foreshadowing

the kite runner 2

The book is beginning to get interesting with the coup and other events happening here. I am glad I live in america

The kite runner 1-34

While reading the first part of this book I was confused with what was going on since it is set in a different country and the cultural aspect of the book. I don't like the way Baba is treating his son, I think that he should have a little more respect for his son and give him some attention. I hope that their relationship gets better as the book goes on since their may be a war approaching.

The Kite Runner Section 2

Through all the violence in this section I'm wondering whether or not any main characters will die?

The kite runner post 2

This chapter showed a great use of tone. It made the reader fear for the lives of Amir and his friend when the gunfire started

The Kite Runner section 1

While reading this first part I was left asking a lot of questions. Like when Amir says "that's when Afghanistan changed forever.

TKR Part 4

I wonder how Assef will be able to manipulate Amir as the story goes on. The Hitler reference keeps popping up, and I feel like at one point the government downfall will become a huge part in the story, and the Hitler reference will begin to take off more. Amir is feeling guilty, so he is trying to assert dominance over Hassan, who must still follow because of the hierarchy but is becoming less tolerant of Amir's nonsense.

TKR part 3

I don't really know how I feel about this chapter. It was kind of rough, but I know that it will come into play later in the story. Hassan will probably find out that Amir witnessed his rape at one point, and that will cause a huge divide between the boys. I feel Amir is struggling more with the divide between the hierarchy.

Kite runner

Wats with that scene with how Amir didn't come to help Hassan when he was being rapped.
I think that amir should of stepped up for his boy and whooped them dudes for tryin rape him. I think haasaan has a right to be mad at amir.

The Kite Runner 3

It's good that Amir won the kite competition. The fact that Amir watched Hassan raped was horrible & he almost said something, but he didn't. & then Hassan wouldn't talk to anyone & would just do his chores & leaves.

Kite runner part 3

This book is getting more intresting because the part were the boys jump Hassan one feels the need to put it in his but and rape him. I don't understand why Amir didn't help him. I also don't no why Hassan won't tell anyone or ask for help

KiteRunner pgs 35-58

Not only does the book say that Assef was dripping with disgust towards Amira but I'm disgusted by Assef. Someone so ignorant that they believe that someone that's different should be ridden of disgusts me and makes me angry. That is not right by any means and I hope karma gets him for the terrible way he thinks.
On the bright side I absolutely loved the description of winter and why it was the favorite season in Kabul. It made me happy to read that there was something that both Baba and Amir had is common.

KiteRunner pgs1-35

I think that the way that Baba treats Amir isn't right. I understand that he isn't interested in the same things as Baba is but Amir is still his son. He should atleast show him some respect rather than completely ignoring him. Especially when Amir said that he had cancer just to see what Baba would say and all Baba did was said to go get some soda. I hope their relationship gets somewhat better throughout the book.

TKR Part 2

You see some character development in Amir through his thoughts of Hassan being a Hazar, I feel like this speaks about how society and influence an individual personally. Amir likes Hassan as a person but because he's a Hazar he thinks unfriendly thoughts because of society's views.

Kite Runner Pt 1

I really like the way the story is written so far being in the present tense. I also like that the past is incorporated because it allows the reader to compare the present time and the past time, it really makes you think about the obscene issues going on now and then.

Kite Runner Pt 1

I really like the way the story is written so far being in the present tense. I also like that the past is incorporated because it allows the reader to compare the present time and the past time, it really makes you think about the obscene issues going on now and then.

kite runner 3

this section was a little messed up, what must it be like to watch your friend get brutally raped?! id feel so terrible and kind of responsible DREW TOURTILLOTTE IS A SEXY MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Kite Runner 3

I couldnt imagine what Amir must be going through after such a traumatic experience. This book is pretty dark at times.

Kite Runner part 2

I think Amir is starting to show he's relationship with Hassan better. But I also feel that he is almost embarrassed to be his friend because he's a servent.
I think that amir should if stood up fir his homie haasaan when the kids were bullying him. He did his boy dirty

part 2

this book is accurate on the culture. there is a lot of war imagery which makes me believe that a war may break out. Amir seems to be very jealous of Hassan

Kite Runner part 2

Once again there was a lot of foreshadowing in these pages. There was a lot of war imagery which makes me think a war is going to break out soon. You cam tell that Amir is a very jealous person in these pages. He always wants to be better than hassan

The Kite Runner Part 3

At this point, Assef has just asserted his dominance over Hassan. There is nothing worse or more humiliating than what happened. After the scene, I hate Amir. He just watched his friend get raped and didn't defend him or anything. He let it happen and than lied through his teeth when he asked him where he was. Hassan has never done anything wrong to Amir and that's how he plays him back .

The Kite Runner Part 3

Im confused on what happened to Hassan with Assef. It reminds me of the disgusting scenes with Lord of the Flies and killing the pig. Is that what they did to Hassan?

Chapter 7

I think Amir shouldn't have been a coward and should have helped Hassan. He must care about him in some way if he freaked out about what was happening so much. Also Amir felt as if his dad truly cared and was not disappointed in him.

The Kite Runner Ch. 7

I never came across a main character I despised more than Amir. I know he wanted the kite to gain his father's approval, but the way he just did nothing while his life-long friend was being violated was infuriating.

The character complexity in this book is fascinating. Amir is portrayed as selfish, while Hassan, his servant, is generous and loyal. It seems the author is exposing the characteristics of different classes in society.

The Kite Runner- Chapter 8

I am happy that Amir is feeling an immense sense of guilt. He deserves it, and I am also happy his relationship with Baba has returned back to normal because he doesn't deserve happiness for watching Hassan while he suffered. I understand Amir doesn't want to see Hassan anymore. But in reality it should be opposite, also when Hassan cracked a pomegranate open on his head, I was confused on the significance of this particular scence.

The Kite Runner Chapter 7

Because of Amir's desire for his father's approval he watches his friend get raped. All over a kite when in reality he won even if he didn't have the blue kite in his possession. I am disappointed in Amir, and I wonder if Hassan saw him standing there watching. The boy's helping Aseef were unsure if they wanted to help, so I am guessing they went through with it because they were afarid of Aseef like Amir was. But Amir is guilty, but he makes excuses for not helping his friend.

The Kite Runner chapter 7

I don't understand how anyone could ever do what they did to Hassan. I just can't wrap my head around why they would even think to do that. Also, Baba finally shows Amir that he cares about him and that makes him feel good. He realizes that he actually cares, he just doesn't show it enough.

Kite runner 1-34

I think that this story is alittle more difficult to read than our previous books due to the history and cultural understanding of the story. It could have been helpful to have some sort of glossary or explanation to some words. Also it's alittle hard to keep track of names and relations to certain characters. Often I mix Ali's name and Amirs name. I agree with tyesha that Amir puts more effort into his relations with his father

1-34 The Kite Runner

Even though Amir and Hassen come from different lifestyles they share a relationship like they were brothers. They may have sarcastic fights and make rude comments but they are more than invested in the friendship. Baba seems controlling at first with the whole trying to turn Amir into something hes not. I personally think that Amir wants that father son relationship with Baba, he puts in more than an amount of effort a kid should put into a relationship with their father. Hopefully Baba can realize his true talents and be supportive of Amir. Its also crazy how Amir thinks Baba hates him because of his mothers death.

Kite runner 2

Why did hassans cleft "needed" to be fixed, it was a problem but he didnt seem to be too affected by the bullying. I wonder if this will have some kind of role in the overall theme of the story

The Kite Runner

It must have been pretty weird for Amir to see his father in such panic with all the events taking place in Afghanistan.

TKR part 2

I wonder why they felt it was so important to fix Hassan's lip. Yes, it was a source of his bullying but he seemed to deal with it fine. I feel like this will add to the insecurity Amir feels about his 'friend' being better than him. I always like when I can see the title of the story come into play, and I am happy it was relatively early in the story.

the kite runner part 2

It's starting to get annoying how Amir is always complaining that his dad doesn't care about him. Clearly his dad cares about him and Hassan. He treats Hassan as if he's his own son by giving him gifts like plastic surgery. Amir just comes off as the jealous type complaining how he isn't given enough attention.

The kite runner

Wat was with all the fireing of the gun in the beginning of chapter five. I didn't understand that part at all.  Y do the boys fly kites.

Kite Runner part 2

I think it was nice that Baba got a surgeon for his lip. But it sad that Baba doesn't really give that attention to Amir. I also think it's wrong that Amir thought that Hassen was just a servent. I feel bad because he deserves that.

The kite runner part 1

I did not find the first part too entertaining. The whole time I was curious to see what happened in the alley but it never came up. I hope the next part is more exciting

The Kite Runner Part 2

Im surprised that Baba got Hassan the present of a surgen! Thats pretty expensive and its not even his own son. If i were Amir i would be jealous. Why did Hassan stop smiling?

The Kite Runner 2

I liked the fact Hassan got to get his lip fixed. I was confused when Amir was saying that he thought Hassan was a servant.

The Kite Runner Part 2

I thought that it was interesting how Baba had given Hassan the opportunity to get rid of his cleft lip. Also, when Amir and Hassan were getting bullied by the older kid, Amir thought that Hassan was just a servant and not a friend but he then changed his mind. They had spent almost their entire lives together, they hang out and play games everyday together, I am not sure why Amir wouldn't even consider themselves friends.

Chapter 5- page 58

Hassan got a big present from Baba and I think Amir Is jealous of Hassan's extensive present. These chapters tell you more about the title itself also.

The Kite Runner Chapter 5- pg 58

In these chapters you learn more about the title the kite runner and exactly what the aspect has to do with the culture associated with the book. Hassan is a very interesting character and I am concerned to see what will happen to him because he is a Hazara. Amir continues to search for the approval from his role model Baba by deciding he shall win the Kite fighting tournament. But he blames himself for many events that he believes why Baba disapproves of him. Like stealing his mother's life. I am confused about the shooting. Did the government just gain new powers whi h caused for a small civil war???

Sunday, November 17, 2013

The Kite Runner pg 35-58

I want to learn more about the kite tournaments and their significance in this book. Also, I really like Hassan's character and how honest and lighthearted he is. I wonder how he became so good at running kites.

Kite runner #1

That must be terrible for amir, having your own father not be supportive of you just because you dont like the same things as him would be hard on any kid. Its even more difficult for him because he constantly is battling the guilt he feels for "killing" his mother.

Kite Runner Day 1

I really like this book. I don't know what's pulling me in but it could be just the pure honesty in the way Amir writes. I really like Hassan's character. I wonder if he really would do anything for Amir. His selflessness is a trait you don't see very often. I feel kindof bad for Amir, he never feels good enough for his father and that really sucks. He must feel like a walking sin. I think his dad does love him, but its more out of responsibility towards him.

The Kite Runner chapter 5-58

I'm really confused because I don't know what a lot of these words are. Like words like "agha". Why did Hassan stop smiling after his surgery? Why did Hassan run a kite for the last time in 1975? Is something going to happen to him?

The Kite Runner

This book is better than lord of the flies. I feel like I can relate to Amir because I know what it's like to not have at meat one parent. It sucks to not have a good relationship with your parents.

TKR PT 1

Interesting start to the story. I enjoy the background given on these characters and can relate to the idea of not feeling enough for my dad. Can't wait to see how the story folds, the way that Amir thinks hes above Hassan kind of angers me, but I think its related to his inner feeling of non adequateness.

the kite runner

I do not fully understand what is going on

The Kite Runner part 1

The relationship between Baba and Amir is interesting. Amir feels like he killed and stole his mother from his father. He tries as hard as he can to mend the wounds with trying to play soccer but he father still disapproves.

Kite runner

I was wondering why baba was talking about that every sin is theift even though that's not the only sin there is. So I don't understand that part

Kite runner 1-3

I wasn't sure what a cleft lip was exacctly, I didn't understand the marriage between Ali and sanabaur. And why was it fixed up?

The kite runner

This is a good book so far im just wondering if amir or whatever and his pops baba are ever going to connect with eachother and have that relationship the father wants.

The Kite Runner part 1

I like the part of the book where the king murdered his wife so when he cries he gets richer. I didnt really understand that little story, but i thought it was interesting.. I would like to see how that ties into the novel further.

The kite runner

The story is intresting because a bond between father and son is usualy very strong but in this case the father and son have no bond because the son likes to read and write poems and the father is more of a tough guy and sports guy. The father gets along better with his sons friend who is also a servent to them and he is known as the best kite runner. I can't beleive that the father would say that he soesnt connect with his son to his friends.

Kite Runner 1-34

Amir's dad comes off as intimidating and seems as if he doesn't care about or appreciate his son at all. I feel like towards the middle of the book this will all change.

Kite Runner 1-34

I noticed in these chapters that Baba, is a highly authorative figure to his family as well as his community. Rhaim seems to act like Amir's father as Baba is ungrateful for his son. I can infere that Amir breaks off considering his inital goal is his father's approval but if that is unattainable then it forces him to leave and achieve his goals without his father's approval. The story seems interesting considering its culture and aphganistan dialect. The imagery, and figurative meaning is abundant throughout these chapters. It enhanced the reading.

The Kite Runner 1-34

I like the figurative language in this book. I can easily relate to how Amir feels and picture his intimidating father because all of the descriptive language.

The Kite Runner

I feel bad for Ali because he feels like his dad doesn't love him. His dad doesn't want anything to do with him. Hassan makes me feel bad for him too. He has to be the slave and he is partly Ali's friend. The only question I have is, why are Ali and Hassan so "close" to each other?

Lotf 6&7

Ralph and Simon carry a littun to sleep, and over night while they are sleeping, many military airplanes battle above them. Somehow they manage to sleep through this. Soon after a dead man parachutes down onto the island. Soon, they set out to look for monsters, as they truthfully start believing that there are monsters on the island with them. They then discover a cave on their quest to search for monsters, and find a cave. Ralph and jack are the only ones who explore it. Although they need eachother, they still have resentment towards eachother. Everyone else finds themself ignoring Ralph's orders and not taking him seriously anymore. After they eat some food, they truthfully find that they aren't going to leave. They lost faith in themselves and start resorting more into savagery. Jacks hunting obsession starts up again with they find pig droppings. They track a large boar; however they do not catch it again. They still believe that their are monsters, but little do they know the monsters are inside of them. Soon after, they become obsessed with the hunt, and the glory of killing for their tribe. They lose themselves.

LOTF 12

I am happy that the boys were saved before Ralph would have been killed himself. I did not like the ending at all. I don't like how they just ended it when the officer came. I think they should have added a part when they got home and then show the punishment that Jack deserves..

LOTF 12

I was completely unsatisfied with the ending of the novel. I felt like there was no closure with the boys on the island. They were randomly rescued in the middle of a man hunt. It gives no answers toward whether or not everyone made up, or if they remained friends. It could've been written better because it was ended very randomly.

LOTF 10 & 11

These two chapters show how the boys are losing complete sight over humanity and civilization. There is no more structure on the island and everyone is out of control. I feel like Piggy's death was based off of Jack's attitude. He demands everyone worship him and follow him as their leader. Ralph and Piggy decided to stay off on their own which ultimately ended in Piggy's death.

LOTF 10&11

Now that piggy is dead, you are certain that there is no civilization what so ever. Piggy was such a good character. He was like a back bone to Ralph, to always keep the goal in mind. Everything is lost now. It's only Ralph, and they are going to hunt him next. It's crazy to think these are only little boys doing all this savagry.

LOTF 8&9

Killing Simon was so unacceptable. There is no excuse for it, they had to have seen him, I don't understand. Now that Simon is dead, everything is going down and now there is no kind of civilization what so ever. Jack is out of control and I'm wondering what he is going to done next.

LOTF 8&9

I feel like Simon was a very symbolic character throughout the reading. He represented hope and security and acted as a guide to safety. His death was very sad and it symbolized the darkness that is about to come over the island.

LOTF 6&7

As the chapters continue, it's obvious that Ralph is slowly losing his power among the boys. They're starting to rebel more and ignore his rules. The boys will probably ignore him all together and start to follow someone else, probably Jack.

LOTF 6&7

Ralph is starting to loose his power when more and more boys begin to follow Jack. It isn't fair though because tye are advoiding the main goal that needs to be done and that is being rescued. I feel that Jack is afraid of the beast but won't admit it aswell. Piggy is still arguing the point of getting rescued as well. And it shows that he is being true to Ralph and I have a Feeling that thy may be the only ones.

LOTF 4&5

Ralph was the only person who really cared about seeing the ship over the horizon. It is obvious that he was aggravated that the boys made no effort to keep the fire going. Their chances of getting off the island were ruined by the boys not following the rules. I feel like this will foreshadow many other events where the boys will come into contact with safety and rescue.

LOTF 4 & 5

The boys definitely don't know how to handle the little boys, because they get mad that they are playing around, when they are little kids and that's what they do. When Jack hits Piggy that's another sign of civilization breaking into savagry. Once Jack runs away, others begin to follow to start hunting.

LOTF 2&3

A lot of differences are beginning to show between Ralph and Jack. It seems like Jack is jealous of Ralph because he was chosen to be the leader. This will probably foreshadow Jack rebelling in a way against Ralph. I feel bad for Piggy because he's getting left out of a lot of activities the choir boys are doing to survive on the island. he wants to be a part of what they're doing, but they ignore his efforts.

LOTF 2&3

Jack and Ralph are starting to slowly but heads. The choir of boys show more interest in sticking with Jack, since he is in the choir as well. I feel bad for Piggy because he wants to help out but no one will let him, and I don't think it's very fair. I have a feeling Piggy will rebel in some sort of way.

LOTF 1

I feel like the boys made a good decision choosing Ralph as the leader. I can see him making a lot of good choices with the group on the island. He seems like the type of person who would do as much as he can to try and get rescued.

LOTF 1

They made the right choice in making Ralph the leader, but I could tell the Piggy wanted to be leader by hesitating. Ralph seems like he knows what to do in order to did rescue.

LOTF 12

After piggy passed, Ralph is now completely alone in this chapter. All of the boys have turned on him. At this point the conch and piggy have been destroyed which means there is no order left in the boys "society" on the island. The savages chase Ralph through the island until he reaches the beach. Here they are finally rescued by a naval officer.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It amazes me how quickly people can turn on the only people they have. Losing sight of the order and civilization you used to be apart of  leads to nothing but disaster as clearly shown in this novel.

LOTF 10&11

Throughout these two chapters the boys completely split up between who they believed was a better leader; jack or ralph.
It wAs very sad when piggy was killed. I have always felt sorry for him throughout the Novel. He was probably the smartest one on the island and no one ever appreciated it him.
Also, These chapters show how the boys have completely lost sight of order and civilization. It's sad how quickly they've turned on the only people they have on the island. It's also sad that these young boys can turn into such monsters when they lose sight of their old morals

LOTF 8&9

I was really happy when none of the boys decided to impeach Ralph as a leader for jack. Jack does not deserve the leadership, all he cares about is hunting and not only for the food at this point. Ralph actually cares about getting off the island and being rescued.
Piggy came up with the great idea of building the signal fire at beach instead of the mountain. After so many great ideas he comes up with to benefit everyone they still are unappreciative of him and look down on him.
I wasn't too surprised when they killed simon. It was very disturbing for them to do so but at this point there is no order or civilization left in the boys. They felt no remorse afterwards which is even more disturbing.

LOTF 6&7

At this point in the story I've grown to really dislike jack. Piggy being responsible as always, asks who is going to look after the little ones while they hunt the beast. Jack responds immaturely, "sucks for the little ones." I still feel really bad that no one appreciates piggy for his great ideas to help the boys.
Chapter 7 portrays how little order and civilization is left in the boys. I couldn't believe that they would torture Robert like he was just another pig they were hunting.

LOTF 8&9

Jack is just an ahole at this point. I'm glad that he chose to walk away from the group because nobody wanted to take Ralph's position away from him. I took Ralph's side of the idea of the fire because it could help them be rescued. I hated when I found out Simon was killed. I believe that the reason he was killed was because nobody is civilized, and the boys have become beasts and are gong crazy. Simon was the only civilized one. The "Christ figure"

LOTF 6&7

What shocked me the most throughout these two chapters is how crazy and INSANE the kids acted towards Rob and how they decided to physically harm and hurt him. :(

LOTF 4&5

when the ship came when the fire was out I felt mad because they could have had hope if the fire was up and the ship saw the smoke. They had a chance of being saved. When Ralph called the meeting he tried to call order and create this idea of staying civilized but the other kids don't seem to care.

LOTF 2&3

This is where i start to notice that Piggy is really annoying as he seems and Ralph is being a good chief at keeping up with the fire and building huts. He is worried about doing these things to keep people inline and in order because anyone can just turn and just stop at any moment.

LOTF 1

Picking Ralph as cheif was definitely a better choice than picking Jack because Jack is too full of himself. he will probably turn everyone into crazy people.

Lotf 4&5

The boys find themselves falling into a pattern of daily living activities. Some start to hallucinate because of the immense heat. Piggy feels that they are mirages. ( he really tries to keep the order and fear out.) the younger boys or "littuns", are still playing and are still afraid of the beast. The older boys start picking on the younger ones. This represents the stress that they might feel in the situation. The boys start getting sick from all the fruit and realize that they really need meat. So does Jack. Jacks primal instincts kick in as he is still obsessed and has blood lust for the pig. He hunts. Jack and the other boys that tag along start losing themselves in the hunt. They forget about their duties of the fire, and break down into a sort of blood thirsty tribe. Piggy gets slapped by jack at an attempt to lecture him of the duties he hasent fulfilled. And simply wants the order to be maintained. But after this, Ralph and Jack then become enemies. The boys all start neglecting their duties and they aren't keeping their civilization as civil  as it should be. They get yelled at by Ralph. Ralph really starts to lost order and control. The boys are still scared of the beast. One of the littuns admits to seeing one of the beasts in the water.

Lotf 2&3

The boys find themselves summoning themselves to meetings with the sound of the conch she'll, this still represents order that they are trying to keep. They try to discuss to eachother that their was a pig, and that they could kill it to eat. The conch she'll is then used to decide who gets to talk in these meetings. This can go wrong as they might not be able to wait for eachother's turns. They have to take care of eachother; and they aren't old enough to take care of themselves. I feel like they almost feel like keeping order will make it so they are rescued earlier. The beast is also introduced in this section, and it represent the inner savage that all the boys are afraid of. It only makes sense that the younger boys are more afraid of it seeing as they have to rely on the older boys to take care of them. When civilization is broken down; what's keeping the beast from being released on anyone. Jack chases a pig through the jungle but the pig escapes once again. The boys then begin to build huts to try to house them for their survival. Ralph and Simon are the only ones who build the Huts. This shows that no one else will take responsibility to build them; they are making it easier to escape from their civil sides. And while all the other boys are playing in the water; it shows that that's the only way they can cope with the stress. It makes it easier to think that a means of surviving is as simple as a day on the beach.

Lotf 1

At the beginning of chapter one, you notice that Ralph has found himself defeated by the island. At a young age he finds that he still has the means to go on. The "fat boy" believes that this island is a new life, he doesn't want to be treated the same way as he did at school. The boys seem to be losing their professional aspects and are starting to become save ages as they god rid of their uniforms for the sake of the heat. They also obsess with finding order because their civilization is broken down.

Lord of the flies 12

I really didn't like the ending of this book. I believe that it was all meant to happen like this and the signal fire was a symbol and it was meant to have them be rescued. I thought it was ironic that the reason they got rescued though was because Jacks group of hunters set off a forest fire and led a boat to the island. The ending went from chaos to some what of order when the adult figure showed up on the beach after the chase through the forest with Ralph. I believe that the author chose to have the boys be rescued at the end instead of having Ralph die or anything of that matter is because the author didn't want to keep the chaos going, and I feel like if he continued the book things would have gotten worse if Ralph died.

Lord of the flies 10&11

Jack is really making me disgusting when he sent a group of his hunters to beat on Ralph and piggy and to steal piggys glasses to make a fire. I feel bad for Piggy and don't understand why he is the outsider, and they have to pick on him. At the beginning of chapter 11 you really see how the two groups have split up and the ones that want Jack to be the leader have run away with him. Chapter 11 really was sad for me. I hate jack in the part where they fight. He really took. it to an extreme, and this fight showed true chaos and loss of morals for the boys. The loss of civilization and chaos have led to Piggy dying. I was really shocked at the part where he died because I wasn't expecting it to be him.

Lord of the flies 8&9

At this part I really am not liking Jack more and more. I'm glad that he chose to walk away from the group because nobody wanted to take Ralph's position away from him. I thought the idea of the fire was a good idea. I believe that it could help them be rescued. I was really shocked at the end of chapter 9 though when Simon was killed. I believe that the reason he was killed was because of the lack of civilization, and the boys have lost all their morals and become beasts themselves.

Lord of the flies 6&7

I felt that it was really creepy with the parachute guy falling, and the boys thinking that he was a beast. I wonder what is going to happen in the next couple chapters with the boys and how they are going to get along. It seems as if the loss of civilization is really coming into play.

Lord of the Flies 12

I hated how the book ended. I would have liked to see what consequences the boys got for the murders of piggy and simon. I would have also liked yhe boo to have been written in ralphs flashback to make the book more interesting.

lotf 12

where did the naval officer come from?! he just appeared out of no where!!! luckily ralph found him rather than merridew because that could have spelled all kinds of trouble for the kids and the ship they would be leaving on

chapt 2&3

piggy is my favorite character so far. I feel as if he is the only one who actually listens to the rules. he's always trying to tell Ralph and the other boys too do the right thing.

Friday, October 25, 2013

lord of the flies 12

I feel as if the ending of this book came way to abruptly, how did no one see this ship coming not Ralph not any of the kids that were on the beach when they are hunting Ralph.

unwind part 7

This ending made a difference to the entire book. While some may criticize it being too much of a good ending, I see it as a surprise that they could turn a scary story about Humpfree Dunfee, into a beautiful ending where they could still be with their son. Although he is not in one piece, he is in hundreds of pieces; And they are all very respected pieces. The memories start to connect and Harlan becomes whole to them. They see him in front of him. They realize that the entire being; Is the entire consciousness.

unwind part 6

This is perhaps the most sickening chapter I have ever had to read. The life of a patient to the workers at the chop shop is just as valuable as the lies they tell them to ensure them that their going to be saving lives. Everyone deserves a choice whether they would like to die, let alone if they would like to watch themselves get torn apart bit by bit for someone who deserves it more. Roland is portrayed as the bully in this book, but in this final chapter of his life, he is shed in another light in the surgery room. his life lays in front of the surgeons, and all it is is just another story to them. my question is; how could they notice that half of the kids coming in there to be used for spare parts, are just as troubled as anyone else. If anything they deserve more in their life. if you look at how negative everyone is in their life, you just start deciding that they'll always be the villain. and a villains role in this world is to be a hero for someone else... whether they like it or not.

unwind part 5

In this part of the story, we find that Connor and Risa had made it to the graveyard. This was a new advantage to unmask skills that they had never known before. They are able to use their skills to benefit other unwinds across the graveyard. What's ironic about the graveyard, is that even though it symbolizes a scrap yard for retired jets and aircrafts; It resembles a new life, much the opposite of a graveyard for the unwinds. They are looked at as heroes and they are appreciated. This is how life should be, even if they are treated as refugees; They are treated as humans and dignified with respect for wanting to be alive like anyone else that is allowed to live at this point.

unwind part 3

This part of the book really made me think of how these people were treated like an underground railroad. It really resembled a lot of stress on the person individually. and they had to adapt and change with the world around them in order to survive. In a way escaping from their unwinding has changed them in a way that they'd never expect in the aspect that they are now able to fend for themselves completely. the fact that Lev had managed to learn to steal and pick through the garbage of even eat someone else's leftovers showed that he was willing to live for a different purpose.

LOTF 12

Thank god the kids were saved before either Ralph or another kid was killed. It is just great that they were saved. I imagine that Jack and his tribe would have killed Ralph and maye they would kill the Navy Officer.

Lord of the Flies 10 & 11

Jacks group is getting out of hand by assulting Ralfs group for Piggys glasses. Piggy was my favorite character and i cant believe he died. I think that Piggy represented civilization and since he died, it was lost.

Lord of the Flies 8 & 9

Im completely shocked that they killed Simon. They all must be going psychotic to have the idea in their head that Simon was the beast. Simon was a symbol for Jesus and the good on the island and now that was lost.

Lord of the flies chapter 12

I feel as if the ending of this book came way to abruptly and should of had more build up then it happening so quickly.

lotf 12

what becomes of the other poor kids left on the island? if theyre left there with merridew i feel bad for them, hes become beyond ruthless and he grows more bloodthirsty every second! its just crazy the way he acts and kills without remorse!

LOTF Chapter 12

I didn't think the ending was too realistic but I was glad that Ralph survived. I'm curious on whether all the boys were rescued or if some were left behind. I wonder what the naval officer was thinking when Ralph told him that two kids were killed on the island.

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

LOTF 12

I didn't actually think they were going to ever be rescued. Ralph succeeded in being a better leader than Jack by getting them rescued.

LOTF 12

I think Jack needs evaluate his sanity. Sending kids to kill another kid that did nothing to you is barbaric. It's ridiculous to think about how close they all were in the begining of the book and how torn apart they are in the end. I thought it was a little to coincidental that Ralph just happend to be saved by a random ship in the end.

LOTF 10-12

Poor Piggy and Poor Ralph. These boys have officially lost it.. They're blood thirsty. They're all acting like animals and its pretty crazy.

That ending was terrible... it was anticlimactic. One second all the boys are in a murder chase and then bam! blindsided by society. I guess I shouldn't call it terrible. I understand the purpose at least. Especially once they all start sobbing and realize just how nuts they were...

LOTF 8&9

Splitting up is going to cause some crazy stuff to happen.. What's pathetic is that this idea of a power struggle is ingrained in our human nature. Everyone wants their way but sometimes it cant happen that way and oh surprise! Shit hits the fan..

And Simon is dead.. There goes all logical thinking on the island. These boys are screwed.

LOTF 12

Piggy and Simon are gone and now it seems like all hope is lost. It did not end how I thought it was going to end. I thought that everyone was going to die or something like that. In  the end, Ralph calls Piggy his friend which was  no t how he felt about him in the beginning.

LOTF 10-11

Jack is just psychotic now. After he killed that first pig, now he cant stop and killing is all he thinks about. They end up beating up Ralph and Piggy and at the end of chapter 10, it says that Jack has piggy's glasses hanging from his ear. So that means that all sources of the really world are now gone. They really are on their own, and are never getting back. Even though they blew the conch, no one came to their meeting. They all care about Jack now and want him to be their leader. The only thing I am confused about is, Is Roger trying to become the new chief?

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

lord of the flies 10-11

With piggy dead and the conch destroyed Ralph is all alone and is probability going native at any moment.

lotf

piggy's death needed to be more of a big deal, i thought it was too down played. it was a pretty terrible way to die but it needed a big part in the book because of the gravity of what it symbolizes. merridew is just off his rocker, hes gone completely nuts and is now further hurting their chances of getting off the island, which i think will never be done unless theyre found on a stroke of good luck.

Lord of the Flies 10-11

What really shocked me about this chapter is the utter collapse of these children. The death of piggie is very shocking and it's grotesque nature is very disturbing.

LOTF 10 & 11

Jack has gone full crazy! They steal piggys glasses and then proceed to attack Ralph when he wanted to talk. Poor Piggy. He cant see because of his glasses being stolen so he ends up getting crushed by the boulder. Sad to see what happens but they will never make it off the island alive unless they get help now.

Lotf 10/11

I think it's messed up how horribly Jack treats his followers and they still stay behind him. Ralph was trying to reason for piggys glasses and they wound up fighting. I thought it was really sad how piggy got killed over nothing

Chapter 7 and 8

This book is still boring but i did find the part will they kill the pig and also the part where simon is talking to the lord of flies ita just a little confusing but i am getting a little more curious as to what will happen next

LOTF Chapters 10&11

It was shocking that no one in Jack's tribe realized that they actually killed Simon and not the beast. I thought it was a bad decision by Ralph to go to confront Jack when it was obvious that Jack would not give piggy's glasses back. I predict in the next chapter that everyone in Jacks tribe will turn against each other.

Lord of the Flies Chapter 12

Jack has definitely gone crazy. He is planning to kill Ralph. Ralph and Jack have always had competition, but sending hunters out to kill another human being is barbaric. When Jack tries to smoke Ralph out a ship notices and they are rescued. Thankfully Ralph is saved from his death. And this is when the boys realize they had lost their civilization ...

Lord of the Flies Chapters 10 & 11

After reading these two chapters, this book disgusts me. Once they stepped foot on the island they had order and rules and organization. But now that Jack is in charge he is teaching the group of boys to act uncivilized and attack the boys that they were once compains with. Honestly, Im dissappointed that another character has died, and that it was Piggy. Both Piggy and Simon were the characters that tried to harmonize the group and reach their initial group of being rescued. They were killed for that. Jack's uncivilized manor is horrid. I don't understand why Roger would even push a boulder. What made these boys go so crazy, Was it the beast????

LOTF 10 & 11

It is complete chaos now. Jack's tribe is insane and crazy. Piggy's death was very sad, I liked him, he was a good character in the book.

LOTF 8 & 9

They seem to be losing all hope of civilization. None of the boys are civilized anymore. Jack and Ralph still have a power struggle and they have split to see who really is more powerful.

LOTF ch 12

For me, the ending was a let down. It was so sudden after such an intense build up.

*Spoilers*

The ending is probably symbolic  of "God saving us from our sins." I just think the book would have such a bigger impact if they weren't saved.

LOTF 8 and 9

These chapters confused me. I don't like the description on how they kill the pig and the fact that they killed Simon really just throws all there hope with him into the ocean.

LOTF 12

this was not the ending I expected. I enjoyed the notes on lotf more than I did the last chapter. reading the notes solidified all the ideas I had about the books theme. I don't understand why Ralph didn't pick up on the spear being double sided, which i felt was ironic because of the death they inflicted on the mother sow. was the plan to give him the same fate meant to symbolize the complete end of their protection/nurture? much better story than unwind.

LOTF 10&11

I wasn't sure how I felt about these chapters. I had a feeling Piggy would die, but the context he was actually killed in wasn't what I imagined. Every character of reason in this book has been killed besides Ralph, so I wonder if he dies in this next section. It is obvious that Piggy's excerpt in chapter 11 is the ideas of society without a governing body and how there is savagery within it.

Saturday, October 19, 2013

LOTF ch 10 & 11

These chapters were so intense. I didn't expect the boys to be so dramatically divided. Piggy's death is pretty graphic. I don't think there's any hope left for these guys. I wonder if Jack will end up killing Ralph or if he just will give in and join Jack's tribe.

Lord of the Flies 6&7

Once again its weird that when they had another chance to be rescued that no one was awake. I believe that when the author uses darkness it means no hope while on the other hand, the light and the light of the fire mean hope

Lord of the Flies 4&5

Its a coinsidence that the ship came when the fire was out.. They lost the one chance they had of being saved. When Ralf called the meeting he once again tried to call order and create this idea of staying civilized but the kids seem to vear off into another direction.

Lord of the Flies 2&3

Now i see that Piggy is annoying and Ralf is doing a good job at keeping people to do the fire and huts. He is worried about doing these things to keep people inline and inorder.

Lord of The Flies 8-9

This chapter is very disturbing, throughout we saw Simon get attacked and jack talking to a pig. It was very confusing and I'm looking forward to see how it pans out.

Lord of the flies 8 and 9

Simon is dead. I could have sworn that Piggy would have been first to be fair Piggy has pissed off half the people on island where Simon kept to himself and did nothing wrong to any one them. I could have sworn that Piggy would have been killed first.

Lord of the Flies 1

Im glad that they picked Ralf to be the leader, but i feel like Piggy would be better at knowing what to do when it comes to keeping everyone alive.

8 and 9

SIMON DEAD:  This is not truly that surprising to me, it is surprising that Simon was the first to die. Simon usually kept to himself and I was going to assume Piggy would die first. With the cover of my book, Piggys glasses were on the ground with a blood pool so my initial thoughts were that Piggy would die. It is interesting how they actually kill him with their bare hands which makes me wonder how the next person will die.

LOTF 8&9

I cant believe that Simon is dead. These 2 chapters have had the most problems with the group then any other chapter. Jack made his own group and is treated like a king by the boys.

lotf 8-9

merridew really lost his cool, he got so enraged with ralph's poor leadership and stormed off inviting others with him. i think this will spell trouble for the entire island because weve already seen what merridew is capable of and how ruthless he is

LOTF 8-9

I was so confused during these pages that I actually read the chapters and then spark noted about it to make sure I was understanding what I read. I don't know how I feel about the pig symbolism, or the whole idea of the killing of this pig. Simon's death just makes me question what it means for the rest of the book, because I felt he was a symbol of hope and they just literally killed him.

Unwind 7

I still cannot believe that after everything, all the hatred, that lev in this section does not clap. That made me happy. Also that Lev saves both Connor and Risa. At the end of the book it was such a coincidence that Connor got Roland's arm with the shark tattoo. Also, because I'm slightly a romantic I was happy that Risa was still alive and that Connor and her still have this connection. It's complete apart from the entire idea of Unwind, but that's what drew me in to that idea.

LOTF Chapters 8&9

I was not surprised at the beginning of chapter 8 when Jack broke off from the group. It was only a matter of time before it happened. The most surprising thing about this chapter was when Simon talked to the pig head. I'm curious about how Simon died as well

Unwind 6

Although Roland is a bad guy I don't believe it was right for Connor to hold him in there for so long. The one thing that really surprised me was that when everything was in complete chaos, Connor was able to calm the kids and stop them from trying to kill the admiral. Also, I was shocked when they risked their chances of being caught by juvey cops  to get the admiral to a hospital, although unfortunately it didn't turn out on their favor.

Lord of the Flies 7-8

There was a lot of craziness in these chapters causing me to have to reread some of it. You can tell that the kids are getting to the point where there brains are no longer functioning clearly since simon realized that the beast was just a figment of their imagination.

Unwind 5

I think it's really nice that the admiral does this for the unwinds. The fact that he is giving them a second chance is awesome. Although it does seem like he is trying to hide something behind this hard exterior of his. I thought it was really cool that Risa fell into the medical part of The Graveyard so quickly. But when Lev becomes part of the graveyard I don't like the person that he's turned out to be. He is way too rude now.

LOTF ch 8 & 9

Simon's murder represents the end of goodness and civility on the island. The author used the storm as a symbol for this change. These chapters were particularly gruesome and chaotic. I agree with Bri; I'm pretty sure Simon was hallucinating about the talking pig head. Either way, that part is creepy.

Lord of the Flies Chapter 8&9

These chapters were complete chaos. There were a few pages I had to re-read because I was unsure exactly what was going on. I can't believe all the disaster that has occurred all because of the beast accusation. Simon finds out the beast is a figure of their imagination, and goes to tell the boys  but because they are in a cannibal state, they tear Simon to pieces. I was a little confused about the Lord of the Flies part. But I believe that he was imagining that the Sow's head was speaking to him, and that it was covered in flies? The change in leadership and division of the groups leaves Piggy and Ralph by themselves still continuously resorting back to their original goal, which was to get rescued.

Lord of the flies 6-7

What shocked me in this chapter, is how barbaric the kids acted towards Rob and how the resorted to physically harming him

unwind 4

I thought that the way Lev was just straight out honest with the pawnbroke and yet managed to get what he wanted was pretty amusing. Also the conversations inside the crates was pretty interesting. It's different getting to know somebody based off of their words, rather than what they look like, which is what both Connor and Risa did while in these crates.

Unwind 3

It was really nice on Hannah to take the baby and promise to take care of it. Even though you never know if someone is lying, the way the author wrote it made it seem like she really meant it.
There is something up with the new character cyfy from the beginning of part 3, but he seems to have living on his own down to a T.

Unwind 2

I think it was a good thing that Connor took the storked baby because if he hadn't that baby most likely would have been unwound because it was unwanted. Although in the case that Connor, Risa, and Lev are trying to not get caught by juvey cops, it isnt the best idea. But then when the teacher Hannah helps them instead of turning them in to the cops, I was shocked because most people think that unwinds are dangerous and don't deserve life.

lotf 6-7

if the twins didnt fall asleep would the pilots who were in a heated dog fight even have seen the fire had it been lit?

LOTF 6 & 7

I cant believe they practically tortured Robert. Poor kid. These guys are losing sight on civilaization. I noticed Jack was anchoring the wild side of the group while Ralph is the anchor of the civilized part.

LOTF 6&7

Ralph seems to be the only one with some kind of sense still left.. he's thinking logically about being rescued while all the other boys just want to have fun and hunt and kill pigs. They see this island as a place for them to be free. But Ralph knows what they left behind and he wants to get back to it as soon as he can. I think soon the boys will revolt against Ralph altogether. His hold over them is weak as is and Jack is not helping that case. Ralph can't beat them, he may end up joining them. or die.

I also don't get the big freaking out over the "beastie". I think they're being irrationally afraid. Although I'm here in normal society and they're alone on an island. But had they gotten there during the day they would have been able to identify clearly what their beastie was.. Although I don't think a parachute will ever look animal like.

LOTF 4&5

The little kids seem to be living lives of their own. They act independently from the older boys, I think that's because they had the least hold on society in comparison to the older boys. You can see the struggle against rules in regulation when Roger throws rocks around the littleun but doesn't hit him... cant hit him. But will that change?

LOTF 2&3

I noticed that the choir is starting to merge into the group. they're becoming less and less separated and civilized and starting to join the wild clothe less mass that is the group. Also, there's a lot of leadership struggles between Jack and Ralph.. you can see it in their interactions and the way that one will revert his eyes. Ralph has natural strength as a leader but Jack is more accustomed to it.

Lord of the Flies chapters 4&5

In chapter 4 you start to see the boys coming together as a civilization when they carry the pig down singing a song. The older boys don't like how the little ones just play around all the time, and they aren't helping. You start to see great tension between Ralph and Jack again because Ralph saw a ship on the horizon and then noticed that the signal fire was out, and that was Jack and his hunters responsibility to make sure it was still going. I wasn't very surprised that Jack hit piggy in the face resulting in lights glasses breaking because I knew that one of them was going to beat on him sooner later cause they didn't want to hear him complain. In the beginning of chapter five you see order as Ralph tries to get the boys together at a meeting to put the group back together. Once he starts explaining how no one is following rules Jack runs away and the hunters follow with him. At this part I was a little confused cause I didn't think that Jack would do that.

Lotf chapter 6 and 7

Im not really into the story but i do find it interesting that ralph was in complete power in the begining and bow him and jack have an on going conflict of who is in charge. I think the twins shouldnt have lued and said the beast tried to attack and instead took a closer look to relize it was just a dead man stuck in his paruchutte from the war. Yeah it would have scared the boys but they would hve known that there wgere planes above and thwt they do have a chance to signal them.

Lord Of The Flies Chapters 2&3

At the beginning of chapter two the boys were starting to get more organized especially with the conch shell, and then the idea of the fire. Towards the end of the chapter the order turns into chaos with the fire and the boys are getting very disorganized and frustrated. I don't understand what the word "beastie" means. I'm not sure if the little boy was talking about an animal or maybe like a tree or something that he saw the shadow of. Also in chapter 3 it was kind of a given that Jack and Ralph are going to have arguments here and there because they are against each other. Ralph wanted to build the huts for the little boys, but Jack didn't want to help because he wanted to go catch some meat. I'm wondering what is going to happen to their civilization?

LOTF chapter 6&7

The tension between Ralph and Jack continues to rise. Ralph has to continue to remind Jack who the "chief" is. But I think Ralph lost a lot of the power when he showed how scared he was when encountering the "beast." I found it very disturbing when they mentioned killing a little one, even if they were joking. It just shows how little civilization is left in them.

LOTF Chapters 6&7

I believe that the parachuter that landed on the island is a bad omen for what is to come. Especially since all the kids that have seen him think it is a beast. One thing I found deserving was when the hunters pretended a kid was a pig and nearly killed him. I was shocked when jack said they should use the litluns instead. Ralph also becomes more savage in these chapters.

Lord of the Flies chapter 1

I felt that this chapter was a little confusing to read. At first I didn't really understand what was going on, and I feel like we had no background information on what happened before the crash to the island. I did like the part of the election, and I think that Ralph will be a good leader. But who knows what is going to happen. I feel bad for piggy because they made fun of him, and I feel like because Jack is one of the older boys he is going to try to rule everyone even though he wasn't picked as leader.

Lord of the Flies Chapters 6&7

In this chapter, I noticed that the majority of the group keeps listening to Jack's ideas rather than Ralph's. But Ralph is the individual who is trying to make decisions for better of the group. The object that fell from the sky with a parachute, was interesting. This was a play of the "beast". I also noticed that Ralph has been putting his foot down lately and has repeatedly had to remind Jack that he was chief and that what he said goes. This is a division in powers but also a positive for Ralph's character. The boys are loosing sight of their main goal which is to be rescued from the island. And to do this they need to keep the fire lit which they often don't do.

LOTF 6 & 7

Ralph is starting the lose he little power he has over everyone. Him and Jack are still continuing to fight over power and as of right now I think Jack is going to win that over considering he's not afraid to go after the beast while Ralph is.

Lord of the Flies Chapter 4&5

The idea of the Beastie comes up again and all the little kids are scared. When the vines were on fire it made it seem like the beastie was alive and to the kids looked like the most menacing creature. Jack finally kills the pig and comes back covered in blood so you can visualize just the savagery that Jack has in his eyes. Ralph is unhappy with the productivity of the kids and calls a meeting. Before the meeting is called to an end Jack leaves the meeting and most of the kids follow him and leave but Ralph doesn't blow the conch to get them back because he knows they won't listen to him as much as they would Jack. And piggy is made fun of even more.

Lord of the Flies Chapter 2&3

It was a good idea by the group to have a conch shell that dictates who can speak. Most things are done with order and peace so far. Ralph is proving to be a proficient leader thus far espeically when telling the kids to make a signal fire to catch the attention of any ships off the coast. While Jack is frustated with the pig he's trying to catch, Ralph realizes that most of the kids aren't pulling their part in the group.

Lord of the Flies Chapter 1

Ralph just seems like the go-to person that everyone wants to be leader. I love how he incorporated piggy. Everyone knows that one annoying person that you just want to hit, so just by including him it makes the story that much more realistic. Most things for the time being have been civilized and I'm impressed that such young kids can organize this much.

LOTF 6/7

The power fight between Ralph and Jack is getting a little too mundane for my liking. I am starting to see what we discussed in class about Simon being a symbol.  He's the person of reason in the story for the time being. I liked how Ralph acknowledged that Piggy is the brains on the island.

Lord of the Flies 6&7

In this part of the book there organization and civilization is beginning to fall apart and Ralph who is suppose to in charge, no one is willing to do what is needed to get themselves off the island like keep the fire going.

Saturday, October 12, 2013

LOTF ch. 6 & 7

Ralph is really starting to lose his civility because he took part in hunting a boar. Hunting is just for fun now. The fact the boys joke about killing a little one is disturbing.

Friday, October 11, 2013

Lord of the Flies 6&7

They are all starting to hate eachother more and more. Ralph is upset that no one wants to listen to him and that Jack is just doing whatever he wants. Piggy is just getting angrier that people are not listening to him. Ralph is upset that Jack and the choir are not keeping the fire going and Jack is upset that all Ralph cares about is the fire to get saved. If they dont have food, then they wont survive. And if they dont survive then why would they need to be saved?

Lord of The Flies Chapter 4-5

Reading deeper into this book I'm wondering how the boys will cope with Ralphs leadership and if this "beast" will e revealed.

LOTF 4/5

Raplh is definitely not used to power and keeping order. I think life is going to be even tougher for them now that Piggys glasses broke. They need to find a sense of working together or none of them are going to survive.

Lord of the Flies 4 and 5

It seems that the book is getting more interesting and they are trying to keep themselves from being left behind agine

LOFT Chapter 4 & 5

It's starting to get more interesting. There's more going on and it's not that easy anymore. They are getting more chaotic. Ralph is trying to atleast make some order but I feel like it's not going to work.

LOFT 3/4

The breaking of Piggy's glasses makes me think about Wednesday's comment in our discussion. Jack broke the glasses, which is symbolizing the changing of intelligence being important to the children losing their mind in an intellectual sense. Also, the fire burning out when they almost got caught is screaming at me that they have seriously lost their sense of civilization. The protection, or hope, that they could be saved was tested with that boat and their focus was on the island instead of their rescuing, which is showing their savage tendencies beginning. I LIKE THE ISLAND PERSONIFICATION. SUPER DOPE.

lotf 3-4

the action in these chapters made it much easier to read, im interested to see what happens between simon and piggy now  that they're "friends" and see eye to eye on the direction the group is headed. i wonder if the kids have grown attached to the island and would rather stay there than be rescued and sent back home, maybe the island has become their home

LOTF 4 & 5

The kids had a chane to get off the island but they have slowly begun to become savages. They are adapting to the life on the island and i dont think they want to leave.

LOTF Chapters 4&5

I enjoyed these chapters a lot more because there was much more action. I knew that Jack would eventually challenge Ralphs power because Jack believes he is the strongest one in the group. I was Ralph shows he is a much better leader in these chapters.

Lord of the Flies 4&5

I think Ralph should have another set of kids looking after the fire, or himself, because Jack & the hunters actually caught the pig. I also feel that Jack is definitely to harsh on piggy and there was no reason to hit him , or treat him badly. I think it's right of Ralph though, to set the boys in line by having that meeting

chapt 4&5

to me Simon reminds me of a Christ figure. he seems like he's a good kid. I like how he picked up piggys glasses and then gave him the meat.

Thursday, October 10, 2013

LOTF ch. 4 & 5

Simon is my favorite character. I think he symbolizes goodness, maybe even a religious figure. He empathizes with Piggy when he picks up his glasses and gives him his meat. Simon also proposes that the group is the "beast," suggesting that humans are the cause of the mayham in society.

Lord of the Flies Chapters 4 & 5

These chapters were less structured with the writing as well as the plot, the imagery that the author provides the reader is necessary but a little redundant. It was interesting to me when Ralph acknowledged that Piggy is smart but his appearance causes him to be looked at as a weak link. It is apparent that rules are being discarded so early in the novel. All the little children seem to believe that Jack's a better leader then Ralph because he is a hunter. But, Ralph puts things better into perspective then Jack does. The meeting at the end of chapter 4 was pure chaos. Ralph struggles with being a leader and a friend to other boys who are on the island. These chapters further described characters and their thoughts. As the chapters continue, the fear of the unknown seems to be increasing rapidly.

Lord of the Flies chapters 2&3

I think that Piggy should be the chief because he seems like he knows what he is doing. Ralph is starting to take all the power to an extent and now people are starting to not like him as much as they did in the beginning. Piggy just wants them to appreciate him and his help. All the kids just don't want anything to do with him. I feel really bad for him because he is the geeky child that no one likes and he seems like he is the only nice or "normal" one there. I think by the end, kids one by one are going to start to follow Piggy around instead of Jack and Ralph.

Lord of the Flies #2

they seem to be taking all of the steps to survival. they're making fire and shelter which is good. I wonder how the conflict between jack and Ralph will work out and if it will benefit the team in the long run or eventually tear the apart. I hope the hunters wind up catching a pig so they don't starve.

Lord of The Flies Chapter 2-3

Reading through these chapters I'm wondering how this conflict Jack and Ralph will pan out. Also if there hunters will ever shape up and catch something.

LOTF ch 2&3

I do believe that the idea the boys have about having fun on the island is going to work out.But if it is going to work there is time for work and time for play you need to get your situation in to a place where you can afford to have work and play at the same time. You need to get a shelter built you also need, food storage, and a way to get an accessible source of clean water. Those thing can be made fun by kids making it a game to see who can get the most wood for the fire, who can cache the most fish or pigs, and who can find the best way to get the closest source of fresh water.

LOTF 2/3

So far my favorite character is Piggy. I feel that he is the only person able to keep his mind right on the island right now, and Ralph and Jack are being blinded by the power they now possess. I'm predicting that throughout the story, Piggy will continue to make these small attempts to open the boy's eyes. At some point something will go wrong and Piggy will be the one saying 'I told you so' at the end. Simon's tranquil space is interesting: If its as nice as he thinks I wonder why he wants to keep it to himself. This secret is showing that separation is beginning to appear in the story.

lord of the flies chap2-3

piggy seems to be getting annoyed with ralph and merridew. he sees that the group doesnt follow the rules but ralph instead

LOFT Chapter 1

This chapter is mostly them trying to get things together and find out how to survive

lotf ch 2&3

I don't believe that the idea the boys have about having fun on the island is going to work out. I think that it will turn into complete chaos because nobody is going to either listen or want to take responsibility. Also you can tell the Ralph doesn't know how to handle kids younger than him so it was a good thing Jack said that they would make sure there was no snake to make the younger kid feel at ease.

LOTF Chapter 2 & 3

Besides the scene with the fire, I found these chapters rather boring. I feel bad for Piggy because he doesn't receive any respect even though he is trying to help. These chapters also have more chaos than order.

Blog 2 lord of the flies

This book is realy boring me I can't get into it but there are slit of parts that confuse me like where did the pigs come from is their a beast and how do these kids know how to do these things... Idk I'm hoping it picks up

chapt 2&3

I think Ralph is creating enemies little by little. he keeps yelling at the boys and when the little boy goes missing, Ralph doesn't seem to care. I believe that it's going to be getting more chaotic on the island and there will soon be conflict on the island.
