Unwind pg 3-50

Unwind has an interesting idea behind it, but it’s too unrealistic for me. It bothers me that there isn’t much of a reason/background behind unwinding kids like Connor, Lev, and Risa. I was also hoping for history of the war aspect, but it might be explained later. Also, I’m a bit confused why parents would put all that effort into raising a child just to terminate them at 18. Why have them in the first place?
