Lord of the Flies Chapters 2 & 3

I really like all of the imagery the author provides the reader with. The island is easily describable. I don't like that Ralph was appointed as the leader. He doesn't have the skills of a leader. Piggy is the leader of the group, but he is also the bystander which also confuses me. I'm still confused on what the scar is that the characters keep continuously referring to. Also I am nervous about this beastie snake. Ralph is taking the subject matter too lightly. And exactly where did that kid go, did the snake get him????
