unwind part 1

So far I like that the book is really easy to understand but it seemed a little weird for me that it starts off with one character and goes through all the other characters stories and comes back to the first story in the end of part one. However, I don't like that Conner, Lev and Risa are being unwound for no reason. I personally don't think it is anyone's "destiny" to be 'killed' or 'unwound'. I wonder if they will survive or if they will be found and 'unwound'. The only thing I don't understand is why their parents would go through all the trouble to raise a child to just get rid of them after they turn 13. I know for me it is really hard to let go of things, so it would be really hard for me to let go of someone that I had taken care of for 13 years and grown to love. If you had brought them onto this planet then you should accept the responsibility of taking care of them until they can take care of themselves. Then when they are old enough to make their own decisions, they can do whatever they want. It doesn't make sense to me why the author would write this book because it is so messed up to even think of doing.
