I personally feel that this part of the book showed alot of good changes for Connor and Risa. Connor not only admitted to himself that he does love his parents, but he found a way to forgive them. Although in this situation it would be perfectly acceptable to never forgive them he found a way to see past that. He found the good in the people that raised him. Even if only for a short time in his life.
I loved this part of the part personally as well. It was so nice to see Connor react to the storked baby! The characters in this chapter relatively seem to being to start living in the moment because they know that they could potentially be found and unwound which would end their lives instantly.
